Ah man - Sapphire and Steel - what a great series. Most of my big childhood nightmares were born of that show. Still can't hear Ring a ring a roses without getting a chill.

2020-07-20 21:21:16 +0000 UTCIn 1955 the BBC made a serial called the Quatermass Experiment- one of themost influencial pieces of television for future scifi. In the Uk it inspired Doctor Who and Sapphire and Steel among others, and it was a big influence on Ridley Scott when he made Alien. The main character was Professor Bernard Quatermass. And that was supposed to be the character played here by Dougray Scott. Unfortunately the BBC could not get the rights to the character in time for broadcast and so he was changed from Professor Quatermass to Professor Palmer. A shame as given how influencial Quatermass was on Who's inception it would have been lovely to have brought the two togethe rin this way. But the character of Palmer is still very close to that of Quatermass, who simialrly worked undercover in WW2 in NAzi Germany, infiltrating the nazi rocket program.

2020-07-09 16:41:53 +0000 UTCThis was the first episode filmed with Jenna as a full time companion with Matt in S7B. Her character in this episode for me is more like the Governess in The Snowman than previous episodes to such an extent it's jarring. Jenna is written/played more flirty, witty and playful with Matt in this. I do enjoy the episode bar the ending and the supporting cast are excellent, the ghost speech is a fav and always fun to see the orange spacesuit π
