Hugely underrated episode and I'm really glad you liked it. The landscape and scenery in this episode look very rugged and beautiful. I genuinely love the scenes that Bill has with the 9th Legion. The fact that she was encouraging them to fight and telling them that it was okay to be afraid made me love her even more. She pretty much inspired Lucius to take action and he realised this when her words hit him. I wish this episode was longer so they could spend more time fleshing these characters out. Some standout moments were The Doctor and Nardole finding bodies in the landscape, the visuals of the portal gate with the blue lights and everyone preventing The Doctor from sacrificing himself. The Doctor definitely had the cranky father role towards Kar. I particularly liked the moment when Bill lured the 9th legion to the Doctor which led to them having quick animosity with the tribe. Once Bill and The Doctor managed to get them on the same wavelength, I like how The Doctor said they sound like children and how Bill addressed that they were speaking the same language once they put their differences aside. It's like everything clicked and came to full circle on that part. The TARDIS translation matrix made it possible for both sides to understand each other which was moving. It made me feel that emotional resonance when they decided to sacrifice themselves. I also liked how they all worked together to lure the Eater creature back to the poral. And then they all acted like disobedient children when The Doctor wanted to sacrifice himself. The fact that Bill and Nardole sided with them on that part made me smile too. I also liked how the Doctor was proven wrong in this after insisting that he knew best. :D I agree with you about Missy. Could have done with a bit more development on her turning good.
