Your reaction to John Simm returning as The Master was brilliant. I laughed so much at your distain. I'm glad you weren't spoiled by this surprise return though. Unfortunately, the BBC pretty much spoiled The Master's return with the Series 10 trailers for viewers. Even people like me who weren't watching Series 10 of Doctor Who in 2017 still got spoiled because I watched other shows on the same channel which is so frustrating lmao. I imagine they did this to appeal to people who dropped out of Doctor Who in the Moffat era (again like me) but it would have been so much better if it was kept a secret. Luckily, newcomers and reactors like you have that luxury of not knowing. :) I eventually watched Series 10 two years later in 2019. Funnily enough, the disguise of the Master still fooled me. I kept wondering when he would show up and then the penny dropped five seconds before he took the disguise off. Haha! :) But man, this is a great episode and a really good build up for the second part. This episode really showcases the horror of the Cybermen in a truly great way. Easily the best Cyberman story in this era of Doctor Who. I'm glad the hospital reminded you of The Empty Child. I got the same vibes and thoughts of that too especially with the patients ready to be converted just like the gas people being in the hospital for Empty Child. It's a really unfortunate for Bill to get converted. That cliffhanger is a real gut punch with her crying. </3 I like the dynamic with Nardole and Missy too.

I was never a big fan of Simm's Master, but I think Moffat writes the Master better than RTD did and combined with Simm giving a better performance, this ends up being better than all that came before by far! Hoping you enjoy the end of the series!
