Doctor Who 11x07 "Kerblam!" full reaction

"You're just making sounds now."

The comments on this episode do go a long way to suggest. And I am afraid to say, the writing is hugely to blame for the incredible mixed messaging that this one delivers as it attempts to sell a coherent and cohesive story on the looming issue of automation and large corporations dominance of the market and the treatment of their workforce. Again painfully over literal with little nuance. But something we might have come to expect from series 11 by this point. Hard roll of eyes. But wait a sec! There are some interesting misdirects that make this story at least intriguing on face value. I'm gonna side step at lot of those character choices that others have battered back and forth. A lot a do agree with in principle. I'll over simplify my take, cuz Chibnall clearly likes this tac. Systems are not good or bad. People are good or bad. People use systems to be good or bad. Bad man uses system to do bad, but for people. Bad thing is bad for people and system not to blame. The Doctor and Fam stops man from doing bad thing. System is still changed for people. But only because bad man was going to do bad thing. Bad man attempting to do bad thing to people actually changed things and helped the people he was trying to help. Man died for cause. Terrorism is bad. Terrorism does sometimes work.... Whoa, wasn't expecting that from a DW episode. I need a lie down now.

Another awful episode. The message is so so wrong with this one to. This episode is trying to fight against automation of jobs? Yet even when this came out we had horror stories of how terrible it is to work at places like amazon yet this story is trying to say humans need these type of borderline slave labor type jobs to give our lives meaning? And then covid happened and that just compounded how terrible these jobs are and how we need MORE automation not less.... There is a transitional period of machines taking over human jobs and people not being able to find work. New jobs usually fill those spots eventually. But at some point when automation because widespread enough we would have living wages.. Where everyone could just spend their time learning, getting a hobby, starting a twitch or youtube channel... automation would lead to more slackers sure but more innovators as well. Cant have 1 without the other.
