Vapula 2019 vs 2021
Added 2021-06-22 17:16:41 +0000 UTCOn a total whim I decided I wanted to revisit one of my Ars Goetia series, specifically Vapula, whom I painted as an extremely muscular swordsman with flowing white hair (Also on a total whim). At the time I loved the design I had in mind but was always dissatisfied by the execution, especially with regards to how weak my anatomical knowledge was at the time relatively speaking, and how "rushed" the end product was as I was rapidly nearing the end of the 72 demons and was extremely excited to be finished.
The revised version is much closer to my original vision and reflects some of the advances i've made since in terms of foundational skills like anatomy and perspective. Unfortunately there's still a few elements I feel like I fell short on, and something of the colour balance I loved in the original is lost, but overall i'm excited by the idea of revisiting older designs with my new skillset, and I feel like I wanna do more!
