November Rain

November Rain! The new protagonist stand from Jojolands, the 9th part of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, of which I am a deeply devoted reader. This is the only piece I managed to fully complete solely on my travel tablet at the Higashi Jujo Flexstay Inn, balancing it on my knee and eating dried meat snacks from the Seven Eleven across the street.
The source design was interesting to tackle - the striated "Muscle" fibres can read as dynamic and interesting or enormously fiddly depending on which angle you approach them from, and also be interpreted as either literal muscle or fibrous/fabric mass.
I also had to decide on a colourscheme since while obviously Araki revels in varying palettes there's usually a consensus about the "Base" colour setup to which all others are alternate - we don't have that just yet for November Rain, so I decided to go for a deep raw flesh tone for the "muscle" fibres, a kind of pearl white for the surface of the "carapace" elements and my favourite alternating deep yves klein blue and yellow for the "fronds". I'm excited to see what the "real" colourscheme ends up as!
