Bust Commission - Crustaceous Hannya
Added 2023-11-01 23:45:38 +0000 UTCA design intended for use as a tattoo, with the core motif of a hannya-esque leering oni face featuring elements that recall oceanic fauna. As it turned out the principal source for those traits was crustaceans, and the client and I had a fun exchange that resulted in the novel concept of using crab/lobster claws as "Horns". Auspiciously the client hails from an area known for crab fishing, so it had particular resonance for them.

SAI's native blending engine means I don't need to use the colour picker as much as I would with say, PS, but I definitely grab a mix of shades to make sure nothing is like totally monochrome. That's more applicable with something like a real human skintone, where you have so many hues evidenced that aren't visible at a glance. Human skintones have greens, purples, blues, so many colours folks wouldn't anticipate. With solid blue "Fantasy" skin like this one it's just a little tilt towards either lighter cyan or deeper azure.
