Another client commission, this time featuring a hypothetical version of their rpg character after making a pact with a being known as "Violence in All Languages", represented here by the skeletal minotaur at the base. The client specified an excess of leather and spike motifs and I immediately went to images of the Botswana "Death Metal Cowboy" subculture, as well as Nancy Lloyd Grossman sculpture.
I think the overall density of the finished piece, the stylized composition and the additional graphic design elements are all traits i've been cultivating in the skunkworks of my "sketch" tier commission work now finding it's way back into my main output. I really couldn't be more pleased with the results.
It's rare that I have a piece where almost nothing was a compromise against my ability to render something or my patience for laboriously laying out specific details, and the satisfaction inherent to realizing a finished painting near 1:1 with the original image I had when work began is immense.
