Chapter 57: Will this truce work out?

“Okay, let’s head over to the hispanics now. All groups actually have a truce. You three are the only ones who haven’t signed it. Where is Jack anyways?” Eugene said.

“He is waiting nearby with a sniper, in case something happens,” Brian said.

Eugene sighed.

“Hey, is this really good, you heard about how these guys raped a girl?” one of the guards said.

“The fuck are you talking about, bitch!” Lucas said.

“Calm down. There is a rumor that you guys raped a girl from the trailer group,” Eugene said. He ended the sentence in a way where he suggested they clarify.

“The fuck do you mean?! Jack just shot that grandpa, we didn’t rape anybody. Who the fuck said that?” Brian said.

“I don’t know. But that’s the rumor out there,” Eugene said.

“Fuck me. Let’s just head over to the hispanic groups,” Brian said.

The hispanics were still mostly in the grasshopper zone. They focused more on exporting meat out of the game and selling it for cash than actually getting stronger and doing challenges and getting crystals.

They approached a nearby camp which looked pretty big and organised.

“They are still split between a few groups, but we just have to talk to this one. It’s the biggest one,” Eugene said.

“Why not the rest?” Lucas said.

“Because they don’t really matter and they all just follow each other,” Eugene said.

They approached a nearby guard at the entrance of the camp.

“Hey, it’s Eugene from the Greentown College group. The Boogeymen want in on the peace agreement. Also, we have something to discuss,” Eugene said.

The guard nodded and rushed off to inform somebody more important.

They were told to wait and after half an hour the entire leadership was there.

One of the leaders spat on the ground upon seeing Lucas and Brian said.

“Where’s the third one?” one of them said.

“He’s nearby, watching,” Lucas said.

“Why did you guys tax one of our men?” Brian said.

Lucas silently laughed behind his mask at Brian calling Johnny a man.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” one of them said. He was a short guy with a beard. It appeared they didn’t have any real leader, but this one seemed to be the most leaderlike.

“Look, we just want to settle everything before more  bullshit shootings happens and get these three in on the peace agreement. Can you help me out, Enrique?” Eugene said.

“Okay. We will ask around. I don’t think it was anybody from this group, but I’m not sure. Everyone is kind of just doing their own thing. It sounds like something stupid one of us could have done. I’ll settle it on my own,” Enrique said.

“Thank you. So, can we all agree on a truce? No more shootings?” Eugene said.

“Yeah, sure,” Enrique said.

“By the way, was it you fucking illegal immigrants who shot us in the back?” Lucas said.

The tension in the air tightened.

“We didn’t do any fucking attacks, putas,” Enrique said.

“Stop it! Why the fuck you always trying to start some shit?” Eugene said to Lucas.

“We weren’t the ones who shot them in the back,” Lucas said.

Lucas failed to mention how many hispanics they had ambushed and killed and the one they had tied to their siege engine.

“That was not us. Look, we just want to live peacefully. No bullshit. There’s no Fernandos anymores. Just leave us alone,” Enrique said.

“Okay, sounds good. I hope this won’t happen again,” Brian said.

After the meeting everyone went their separate ways.

Lucas and Brian were exhausted and exited the game and went home. They decided to just watch movies and chill the entire day. At one point Miranda called them asking about Jack, and they said that he was doing a quest and wouldn’t be back for a while but that he was fine. Miranda kept asking stupid questions about him that they couldn’t answer because they didn’t know what had happened to him.

The next day they met up with Johnny in front of the metal building and went into the game together.

They were met by nobody at the entrance to the Balloon Monster zone. Brian told Johnny to split off and do his own grinding and Lucas and Brian grinded on their own.

One of the Balloon Monsters dropped a skill crystal.

Brian picked it up and crushed it in his hands.

“That’s because you’re stupid,” Lucas said.

“Is that so. At least I have all my fingers. And it goes chop chop chop.”

“Fuck you,” Lucas said.

An unpinned grenade dropped by their feet. They both saw it at the same time.
