Armor is still fairly cheap so I'd say get some now before the new administration decides you can't own them any more.
Spartan armor is excellent, so is AR500. You can youtube torture test videos on them to see how they hold up in real world testing.
There's also the secondary market like offer up and craigslist. I wouldn't recommend buying a kevlar vest on those though it's most likely expired. But I've seen steel plate armor for under $100 if you catch them as soon as it gets posted. I have alerts set on offer up for specific items 😂 Ended up meeting a retired LEO and bought some surplus he had laying around.
