[BIAW] Public Vol. 3 End Q&A Question Collection Post

The public releases have reached the end of Volume 3 and I've been seeing some suggestions about Q&A floating around here and there, so why not?
We'll do it with three types of questions for easier time: about me, about the story, and towards characters. Let's tag them too so that I have an easier time figuring out which one is which.
Something like this:
- [To you] Are you sure you are not secretly a reptilian?
- [To Cornelia] Why did you decide to become a Court Magician?
- [About the story] Are we going to see X in the series? What other races could you leak? What are the other, non-human kingdoms in the world? Do Dragons exist?
And such. Naturally, the first one is kind of a joke example, but whatever you feel like asking, go for it. I will later pick most if not all that I can answer without either spoiling something crucial or exposing some kind of my personal secret, huhuhu.
If you are not sure about the categorization, just leave it be and I'll classify the question myself. When it comes to character questions, please aim them at those that appear before Chapter 63, thank you!
If the idea catches up, we might make it a recurring thing per volume and also make one for TWS as it's nearing the end of Vol. 2 too, in public terms.

I didn't use your question in the Q&A, but since it's quite an extensive one with some effort, I decided to come back and answer it. Well, Patrons can pretty much get their own personal Q&A's whenever as I try to answer all the questions. Nevertheless, first thing is that Al's main objective would be to use the skill as often as possible to raise its level while also having in mind any potential troublesome situation that could be handled in a safer way if the skill was off-cooldown. Thus, he would almost all the time pick skills generally useful in general over specific ones, like we've seen in the recent chapters during the journey. And while you are partially right about the experience of perhaps the "feeling" of using some kind of magic and ability, it won't always be possible to learn them if the person just doesn't have a good affinity for these. It of course depends on what the magic/ability is and its complexity or nature. Practising various borrowed skills could definitely help with other things and abilities he already possesses, but also quicken the process of acquiring the new ones as you've said, just not necessarily exactly the same as the borrowed power. But, in general, Al is practising various borrowed ones when he has time for it, which mostly happens off-screen.

2021-06-13 20:37:53 +0000 UTC[To Alastair] You are smart, so when you decided to borrow spell school skills as your initial borrow. Why didn't you use it as a cheat to get over the difficulty of not being naturally gifted with said spell schools and much more quickly learn how to use some semblance of those abilities on your own even if lesser than the borrowed skill itself. Having the practice of using an ability, especially in something with a focus on practical knowledge like spell casting, isn't something that will be just lost when the cheat that made it easy to use goes away. That experience should be almost as good as being gifted itself at least up to the level of skill that was borrowed with practice time.
