Bec de Corbin!

Termac

I think it's good that he has someone pushing him to take the next step. And it's probably an equally good thing that she has someone to second-guess her eagerness to keep her from going in underprepared.

Termac

I know, right?! You know we are showing our age here! But Wow! That was some entertainment for me during my 4 years at sea!

Man, that sure brings back some memories - the ol' eternal champion stuff was fantastic

Hahaha, most of our corporations and governments and many of their lackeys. Shoot, Im trying to think of some cats that wouldn't!

No, not caring about Dungeons wouldn't mean nothing happens. It's not a simple matter of "if A then B". I gave only a few small examples through Aisha's words. And, in the end, if nothing was done about the Dungeons, they would "break" and hurt people. Of course, if you are a person following the belief that "all in the universe happens for a reason and if the balance needs to be kept through our deaths then so be it" then doing nothing would most likely be your approach, theoretically speaking. As for the other part, well, welcome to life, I guess. As it should be quite easy to notice, most of the things are built in the image of a "company".

Saileri

Doesn't the idea of a self balancing universe mean everything they're doing is entirely pointless? If they cleared fewer dungeons, fewer dungeons would appear. Also, what sort of moron sells themselves into slavery on just the implied idea that they might become rich?

Laudable Effort

I don’t particularly care for this genre, but an awesome weapon for an Overlord world be Michael Moorcock’s Elric of Melnibone’s Black Sword Stormbringer and it’s ‘brother’ Mournblade. That is assuming the Overlord can handle both of them. https://stormbringer.fandom.com/wiki/Elric_of_Melnibon%C3%A9

Well, he isn't exactly clueless. Quite some knowledge and "experience" from the "game" are still relevant. He is cautious to some extent as he prefers to still check and verify that along the way rather than assuming nothing changed. Otherwise he wouldn't agree out of the blue even with an ally. It wasn't "so easily" to me either or he would have instantly gone out without giving any thought about it. They are going to just take a peek and return and he is going to make sure about that.

Saileri

Two in one day?? You spoil us! TYVM BTW!

Love the story so far! For a weapon, wouldn’t an Overlord have something more like a scepter?……say a mace? A polearm might make more sense from a gamer point of view, but an Overlord should have something that just screams “I’m in charge”!

Kestril

Its annoying how she strongarms him into going in blind. I get that its a tutorial but expecting a clueless civilian to learn as they go is the heights of hubris and idiocy. The fact that he agrees so easily is worrying, I hope the novel doesn't continue in this way.

The Tallest Tree

Very good point. Oooor what if this family has a history with this company and protecting the world and the fish was also an employee? It could have had a little sunken castle that the dungeons were attached to and the glass bowl was the outer defenses. Maybe one of his future summons could be his precious goldfish? Also, just so no one thinks I’m too crazy, both my original post and this reply are just me being goofy. Love the story!

Well, Overlord will be quite special so we'll see about the weapons. Side professions might surface through the story as I have a few ides :)

Saileri

Pretty sure by "killed" he just means it was his pet he didn't take care of properly and it died in it's tank. I don't think we really need such a mundane side story if this is the case

hawkshe .

Love the double post! If you still haven't settled for a main weapon yet I vote for a Chinese glaive or Guan Dao, with a sling as his range option. Any pole arm would be my first choice due to the easy understanding of "point stabby to enemy, stay back and stab!" Theee reason for the mentioned sling is the way you've sold the warlord class so far is its a commander not a mage so he won't be slinging offensive spell but buffs and as a gamer all supports have crafting sub classes cooking, enchanting and/or alchemy. Alchemy is usually the best early game sub as it introduces maybe hard or expensive heath pots, antidotes and explosives. In most games explosives are on a time because if they weren't you can cheese mobs, that said a sling for distraction or spell interrupt is handy and adding acid bomb or fire bomb to the mix just makes it awesome....sorry for rant can't wit for more

….. I feel bad for the goldfish he some how killed…. Side story?
