I'm not an emotional person, and after reading those books, I remember sitting on my bed and just crying. It's a hard read, but definitely worth it.

When is the fantasy no longer enough to satisfy some of them so that they start acting on their desires? On one hand, jailing people for deviant thoughts feels like a terrible slippery slope to hell. On the other, do we really wait until a woman is tortured and killed to do anything about it? I think these situations are no win, either way. I suppose the good thing about Gil is (since the whole world knows about his fetish), he’s less likely to act on it knowing that he’d be suspect 1.

I think his wife saw the role-play and got scared because she'd never seen kink before and his fetishes are very extreme, and jumped to conclusions about the reality of them. She's totally right to be pissed about him sharing photos of her, her colleagues, their friends and acquaintances with their names. It's entirely possible someone could have found out their real names from google image search and back tracking, so even if they weren't in danger from Gill, they could have been in danger from one of his 'role-playing' friends.
