My sister with PTSD had the police approach her car in a dark parking lot and whip open her driver’s side door with no warning. I’d punch. She froze, thank God. Freezing kept her from an assaulting a cop charge.

I think he studied criminology, is a weird fucking loner who thinks he's smarter than everyone, and he wanted to murder just to test his theories, see what it felt like to get away with it (he was probably convinced he would) and enjoy the chaos in the media afterwards. He compartmentalized and dehumanized the victims. They were just test subjects.

I went berserk & don't really remember bits & pieces after finding him. Still have PTSD from it & I need a therapist to deal with it; & I'm 61 years old. I'll never really be the same again. That crap is extremely traumatic!

A lot of anxiety attacks or cardiac syncope episodes make the sufferer very tired. If the timing was right + alcohol, she may have not fallen asleep as much as fainted INTO sleep

One of my boys' girlfriend was majoring in criminal justice at WSU and who knows what triggered this guy. One of my other son whose girlfriend started at UofI and transferred to WSU was friends with one of the victims. As soon as I got the call from the school about an incident nearby, I was immediately anxious and thinking it could have been one of my children. My boys visited that food truck all the time. I told my boys to watch out for the girls around them. There was a mass exodus from both schools because everyone was so scared. As a parent I felt so horrible for all the children this this effected. I have been invested in this case from the beginning and it has been interesting listing to your views on this. I do feel protective of the roommates in the house, and it hurts my heart to think about what they are going through.

There's comments here about fear doing weird things to people, a few said who knows if she even had her phone to call. She was in her own room right? And their movements are tracked by their phones all night, they're using them constantly, there's no way her phone was not in her room. You can text 911, a friend, your parent. I can get waiting til daylight to help you feel safer, but they call friends over before they called the police right because someone was "passed out maybe." The best reason I can think of for someone who didn't commit the crime calling friends before the police would be if there was some sort of drug usage/selling involved. And I think that would explain a lot of the roomies weird actions better than fear freeze. I'm hoping the trial will answer some of these questions. I don't think the survivors should be subjected to as much hate as they've received. They are essentially just kids and we don't know everything yet.

In Freeze, you truly can lock up while it's happening and you're paralyzed for a while because you cant make a choice enough to move. You cant. It's brutal. In fawn, you capitulate. Freeze and Fawn are more common in SA cases, but it doesnt shock me she was trapped by horror. Adrhenaline is helpful for running and fighting, but any coherant thought: it's TERRIBLE. You'll hear insane 911 calls from people who are injured and they give the dumbest answers. 20 year old kids arent the smartest on a good day, but especially not anything like this.

There's also a book out, "When the night comes falling" which has some additional information, though it should be known that some of this is speculative, but the author did spend time investigating as well. I'm honestly surprised the guys didn't mention the groups of "Brian's Girls" who are online and quite frankly probably clinically insane, who are enamored with Brian... I was hoping for a good thrashing of them, but I digress... I think there's far more evidence that the police have and it just hasn't been made public. This has been in the news so much, I think it would be difficult to find any jurors without some bias. My best guess is they are withholding until trial so they at least have some ability to find jurors without a preexisting idea of who/how/why this happened.

That said: I NO LONGER WANT TO HEAR GROWN ASS MEN DECIDING WHAT A VERY YOUNG WOMAN SHOULD OR SHOULDN’T DO TO SURVIVE A SITUATION WITH AN INSANELY DANGEROUS MAN. You guys said it, it was strange that he didn’t chase after her and kill her too. She was basically in a bloody horror movie, and if it was a typical one, she was next. Her response to him was a visceral one. On an animal level, she knew it was next level danger she was facing. Instinctively she knew to try to escape him. She hid, was terrified, and woke up the next day alive. I’m telling you guys, I honestly adore you. But have some perspective, and even maybe know that you’ll never know what it’s like to be a young female facing extreme danger. People need to get off of their fucking high horses, with their ideas that they will have control, and know how they will respond, in this kind of a situation. It is a terrifying thing that happened. It is a normal human response. But not one of us can say what we would do in that moment. James, warships full numbers of young men ran ashore into pretty certain death. They were heroes. But there are differences. They were trained soldiers, they had a mission, against a known enemy. It was a different time, a different place, and they knew their objective. Every last one of them is a hero for doing that. But they were soldiers, and it was war. This was a young woman in her own home. And as far as comparing her to your grandmother, James, I don’t see how they’re any different. Your grandmother was hiding from Nazis, this girl was hiding from fucking Koeburger, and something she instinctively knew was way bigger than her. She had no way of even comprehending what was happening, and certainly had no point of reference. These were kids. If the entire nation is still grappling with this thing that happened, how can we expect that a young woman would understand the enormity of it, as it was happening? James, you have your machete and your enormous wing span, not to mention upper body strength. Jimmie, I love the thought of your gun with the flashlight attached. But you guys are MEN. You will never know the vulnerability girls and women feel in life, and you most likely will not know the terror of coming face to face with a beyond deranged and murderous freak of a man. I have heard stories that many of the soldiers had to be pushed out of the boats once they saw their fellow comrades being immediately killed. It’s not a fair comparison.

I lived in Austin for 20 years and at that age, I could ABSOLUTELY see this happening and no one else in the house know. She didn’t move for 8 hours cause she saw him then passed out. Why is this not being talked about? The delay to find them/call/etc had to be because of how intoxicated they were, then the horror happened after waking.

She could've made a statement about how she didn't properly cleanse her tarot cards bc of the clouds and moved on. She has tripled down on her story. And that professor will never get a dime from her & has spent thousands of dollars trying to clear her name and Ashley keeps going. I will say, when she commits to something she commits & appears to be a gifted story teller. She should write mystery books or even tell her fiction stories on youtube in various videos.
