BONUS - SMALL TOWN MURDER - DB COOPER

This week, James and Jimmie discuss DB Cooper. Who is he? What happened? All of it.

Comments

Smoke jumpers are guys who jump into wildfires to help control them.

Trowa Barton

Or it's just a lie 🤷

Kyle Bearce

Smoke jumpers are the guys who help put out fires in an airplane

J engel

Clark County Washington resident for my most of my adult life. Married a man who was a North county native. Always love DB conspiracies.

Sandy

I think this will be solved the same way Hoffa will: pure dumb luck.

Liz Rutherford

I'm not sure why, but this episode won't play for me. It's happened once or twice before with other episodes too. I hate to miss anything the guys do.

Tracey

It’s in the papers this week the FBI looking into some new evidence- great episode as always xx

kathryn Clark

I pulled a Jimmie-style "GOD DAMMIT" every time James mentioned another evidence fuckup. Great episode, guys. That was fun.

Sarah Zamenski

Great show!

Malcolm Simpson

Back in the day, up to the mid 70s, everyone got on the larger airplanes through the rear. Unless you were with some important officials, you boarded from the rear.

PadrePaul Ballin

My grandpa was in the FBI and worked in the Las Vegas field office during this time and my mom said he worked on this case!!! Wish he hadn’t died when I was so young because I have so many questions for him!!

Not a Freakofark in Montana

Lewis county resident over here 😂

Hannah Barrett

Very interesting! I thought I knew the story but you guys really presented so much more info beyond the main story, thanks!

Merp

https://people.com/new-evidence-discovered-db-cooper-skyjacking-case-uncovers-potential-suspect-8425325. I loved this episode as I had never heard of the case. Thank you so much for your work on this.

Justin Glover

Washington is weird for odd folk heroes like this. We also went wild about the barefoot bandit

Tara Louise

They already covered that twin flame craziness back in December I believe

Tara Louise

This is how talented you guys are, I was NOT looking Forward to hear any more about DB Cooper. I'm like the FBI, I'm done with it! I gave it a listen out of desperation for something funny and man, did you guys deliver!! Not only did you keep me engaged, but I also learned some new info!! Good show you guys! Keep up the funny!!

Hedied4u

Yes! That's what I'm saying 🤣

DeeFaces REDRUM

The guys are going to be in Nashville at the same time as Crime Con/ May 28-June 1st. I’m working at that! Their June 1 show in Nashville is sold out. I just need one ticket if anyone has a spot to sell. What a trip that would be! To end on that note? Oooo! (Coming from Massachusetts)

Cher Love Strong (#LocalWeedia)

He could be from Louisiana and have no discernible accent. Or he could sound cajun, southern, slightly like a New York or Brooklyn accent. Louisiana is an odd place. Depending on the part of the state you were raised, where your parents and family are from, even just the area of New Orleans you live in influence the variety of accent you end up with.

Jason Jasonson

my favourite db cooper theory is that because he was never found, he technically could still fall on us at any time

Katie Christine

Im getting lasik done on the 19th hopefully they dont blind me, ive already bought 420 show tickets

Nash essman

Always amazing to hear you guys cover topics like this! 😆 Can we get a new Small Town Fesitvals episode?

Patrick Roseberry

Smoke jumpers jump to put out mini wildfires to contain larger fires.

Liam Ruff

This episode was a fantastic listen. Also, I’m circling back after getting into the latest Crime in Sports episode to suggest a theme for a Patreon episode: please, please, *please* do an episode on James’ adventures as a bouncer lol. That would be super fun.

Scott Brady

I moved from The Dalles to Hawaii five years ago, but born and raised in a suburb of Portland. As a kid whenever we’d go down the Columbia Gorge my dad would tell my brother and I to keep an eye out for D.B. Coopers lost money bag…. I think it was just a way to keep us busy.

Dyan Larsell

My twin brother and I were born the day before this infamous incident occurred, but about 6 hours away in a small, eastern Oregon town, so I’m pretty sure my 5’7” dad isn’t responsible. Still….

Daniel Cash

Yes!! I kept wondering why they didn't mention this. I'm from a state that deals with a huge amount of summer/fall wildfires, so that was the immediate connection I made. Two out of the last four years I've had to vacate my house when a fire got near enough. I used to love summers; now, I enjoy Spring far more.

Crowded Crow

Did anyone else learn about DB Cooper from the movie “Without a Paddle”? Because that’s how I learned about him

Matthew Eagle

5 stars out of 5. Mid.

Eren Schlack

The flapping behind you🤣🤣🤣🤣

Dy Scott

Please cover this. I cried and yeld.

Jessika Gomez

Hey i k ow u guys dont want to do quiet on the set. But please so ive listene ytp you guys since 2019, and fall asleep to you guys. Im as victim

Jessika Gomez

Waiting patiently for James and Jimmie to cover the WM3

Ava Polvino

Smoke jumpers are the firefighters who jump into forest fires to fight them..

Michael Velez

James putting Jimmie on blast for his cowboy boots. Hahaha 😂

Marc Trudeau

I about died…the Elvis part 😂😂

Jenn Ward

My daily therapy ! . I totally can’t miss a single episode 🖤

Lori Gough

You guys da best

Holy crow you got a droopy butthole.

That episode alone was worth a cup of coffee. Patreon episodes are never MID.

The socialworker and the bat

I tugged at the fork...🤣🤣🤣

Sifyi

Would love to hear the reviews of the festival

Mana

I love the shit out of you 2! Jimmy you are a moron! Smoke jumper? The guys that fight forest fires? Really 😂😂😂

Stormvet67

It would fun to hear you guys do a bonus episode on Martin McNally. He has a crazy story and life. He was featured in American Skyjacker but Pretend pod with Javier Leiva did a better interview with him that is more candid. Be fun to hear your take on it

BennytheJet

Pretty sure Loki lost a bet to Thor…

Olivia Peterson

Former Indycar racer and team owner Dick Simon claimed on the Dinner With Racers podcast that HE was a suspect and interviewed by the F.B.I. But he might be full of shit!!

Brian Spink

Their research is always top notch, no matter what the subject is.

The socialworker and the bat

I've seen all kinds of TV shows on this. But I have no doubt that James and Jimmie are going to solve this mystery by the end of the episode.

The socialworker and the bat

Excellent research! I’d listened to another podcast on DB Cooper and I learned so much more from this episode. I had no idea it was a commercial plane 🤯

Jordyn Fahey

Not “die-atoms”, “die-uh-toms”. Just fyi cause you’ll hear them talked about on Cold Case Files and Forensic Files.

Stacie Pease (“Peez”)

Nora Ephron was once married to Carl Bernstein of Woodward-Bernstein (aka the dudes who broke Watergate) fame, speaking of the paranoia weirdness of the 70s. What a decade!

Dorothy B

I’ve always thought it was an inside job.

Rebecca Flowers

We Oregonians are very proud of our very own PDX-based mystery. We love our airport (so much so there's a cult following for the old carpet from the 80s) and the local news always covers the anniversary of Coopers antics. At this point discovering his true identity would kind of ruin the mystique.

Ashley W.

Ok, just watched ‘Love has Won’ on hbo max. It’s the weirdest thing I’ve ever seen. You guys might be interested

Tony Legg

As I've been told, by way of Disney+, DB Cooper is indeed Loki! Mystery solved, lol ... Great Episode! Love you guys! See ya in September! Let's Gooooo, Minnesota!

DeeFaces REDRUM

I love the DB Cooper story. My dad was a fan of alternative punishments, I got caught sneaking out at 14. Made me do a 1,000 word report on DB Cooper. I've been hooked ever since. 26 years of listening and reading about this case. Can't wait to hear the guys take on it

Damon Stephens

I’ve heard shows about this, but yours was unique as always. Thank you. There was a lot of information in there that I had not heard before.

Laura Errera

He did it for a $100 cash! Thanks for the little bit of Stevie

Kip Sousley

Great job on this highly anticipated episode! When you drop that back hatch on a 727 it’s a set of stairs used for de-planing back in the olden days. So I guess he just stepped right off the last stair and into the night. Thx STM team!

Jane Blackbird

Smokejumpers are the specialty firefighters that parachute into wildfires.

Brian Kimble

Finished a horrible bar shift......time to turn the frown into a smile via our fave two Turkey's 🖤✨✨🦃🦃✨✨🖤xxxxxxxxxxx much love to everyone 🦃🦃🦃🦃🦃🦃🦃🦃🦃xxxxxxxx

John Leng

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SARA!!

LissaG

Collinwood Tn here.. filling the lungs fullll and screaming shut up and give me murder. ♥️

Lori Gough

Omg, as a Washingtonian, I'm ridiculously excited that you did a DB Cooper episode, and on my birthday! You guys are awesome (I'm choosing to believe it was intentional.)

Sara Templeton

So happy

Stormy Rae

Love you guys. Happy Easter

Liza

One of the weirder cases especially with all the variables involved, especially with the parachutes.

Jacob Johnson

He was drinking bourbon and chain smoking? Absolutely no way he survived 😂

Hunter Steele

I’ve been waiting for this episode forevah!!! Woooooo! 🩷🩷🩷

Ann Pickard

couldnt get into the netflix series but think my boys will explain it perfectly

biggidy2555

This is one of my favorite mysteries. Can’t wait to hear your take on it

Peace Ransom

Just in time to make dinner.

Douglas Collins
