BONUS - SMALL TOWN MURDER - TED BUNDY AND GRK!
Added 2025-08-31 02:42:51 +0000 UTCThis week, James and Jimmie discuss how Ted Bundy helped law enforcement find the Green River Killer.
Comments
His peers thought he should die. That's the system. Doesn't matter how many murderers he could have caught.

2025-11-24 17:11:46 +0000 UTCReichert is a joke, I’ve lived in WA my whole life and everyone laughs at him. A friend of mine calls him Dave noun verb green river killer Reichert. He made a career in a case that took years to solve then got whipped when he ran for governor.

2025-11-04 01:37:25 +0000 UTCDoes anyone know the name of the documentary with the guy who said “that boy needed to die?”
Ross Timbrook
2025-11-04 01:36:20 +0000 UTCPersonally, I think it’s a valid point. Whatever we can learn about what motivates these incredibly deviant predators could save lives in the long-term. If he’s afraid of dying, that *does* make executing him more appealing, but decades as a guest of the our penal system might make him long for death.

2025-10-18 03:36:37 +0000 UTCLoved this episode! And I love a good James rant about people's stupidity 😁

2025-10-13 22:58:24 +0000 UTCExcuse for what?He killed a 12 year old. Among the college students. Just in Florida. 2 escapes. If he did that to females close to you would you say keep him alive? How about the detectives get a clue and solve their own crimes

2025-10-10 16:19:42 +0000 UTCIn the 70s Kings county in Washington sucked. Bundys gf made a few phone calls after the description of a guy named Ted the sketch drawing looked like him and drove a vw, they said no its not him. Facts from several books about Bundy. Count the number of women who would have lived after her phone calls started. Ann Rule called them same info , nope not him. They couldn't find a killer if the suspect walked in and say I did it.

2025-09-17 12:59:01 +0000 UTCTotally agree with the insight we’ve lost by just killing these serial killers - there were so many insights and research we could’ve gained
Haley Walls
2025-09-15 12:42:07 +0000 UTCI guess the issue they have is the time they have to talk about each aspect so it’s limits how they approach things. Also I guess it’s what their objective is for the episode which was about the relationship between Bundy and the case of the GRK. I do agree with you, sex work does need to be talked about with more education but not sure on this episode…
Haley Walls
2025-09-15 12:41:21 +0000 UTCOK, please nobody rip me apart for this, it’s just my own side opinion and I still love the guys and all of the podcast media that they put out. But was I the only one who’s a little bit disappointed at the way that the boys were talking about sex workers? I don’t think any of it was blatantly disrespectful, I just wish that there was a little bit more education around Sex work, why people do it, and using better language to describe people who are doing it, most of the time out of necessity. I’m sure the guys did not disrespect, I definitely did not get that vibe. I just wish that they may have chosen different wording. I guess I just think the word prostitute is pretty demeaning considering how it’s historically been used. Just my opinion, though, great episode nevertheless.

2025-09-11 22:06:48 +0000 UTCEd Kemper is another who could have been very insightful. He was highly intelligent and helped the FBI on some cases as well.

2025-09-06 18:38:34 +0000 UTCAs an outsider, I’m fascinated by the US devotion to the death penalty. But Bundy/GRK is ok.
Kerrie Ann OCONNOR
2025-09-06 12:13:09 +0000 UTCI think this it where you’re wrong. Using your own words about having Vulcan logic you’ve got to assume now that something other than death as a fear made Ted reach out. If you lock him up you can only threaten him so much before he starts feeding you bullshit and stringing you along. He knew this geography and person so well because that’s where he was doing work as well. Bundy reached out to stroke his own narcissism. He liked being the famous killer from that reason and simply wanted to be made relevant again. I love where you heads at but now you’ve got the assume that the shark is now simply going to take orders from the fish.

2025-09-03 17:46:29 +0000 UTCI agree Melissa, I said this some time ago on the main page and a few people got upset. I figured he's in jail, rarely left the cell, and was under constant guard and shackled, when he did. He wasn't going anywhere, all he could do was help these families.
Dawn Shaw
2025-09-03 17:41:12 +0000 UTCI agree that Ted Bundy could have been useful, way more than Charles Manson ever was. Bundy seemed to give honest insight rather than Manson’s bullshit rantings.

2025-09-02 01:48:15 +0000 UTCWhen Gary Ridgeway was arrested I happened to notice the name on a report at work. The name has a unique spelling so I knew it was him. The notes showed the wife called to make changes on the account but was really vague about the reason. i didn't know what to do with information. I know it's silly, but that's one one connection with a serial killer.
Patrice
2025-09-01 19:18:39 +0000 UTCSince you're on the Green River Killer and Ted Bundy, could you do a show on the book Murderland, about the relationship between toxic pollution and serial killers in the Pacific Northwest?

2025-09-01 12:26:24 +0000 UTCYayyy!!!! Bundy can kiss my ass, but hearing his nasty deeds, especially from a James&Jimmy output, is a nice view into that mind set!!! Shut up and Give Me Murder!!!!!…..🤔(But don’t commit murder)

2025-09-01 08:21:23 +0000 UTCFuck Bundy The saddest thing for me is always people can name these serial killers who at some part of their brain luv the infamy they get but hardly anyone can name one of their victims In Australia at least at one of our worst massacres ( that finally changed gun laws here ) at the memorial they name all the victims and leave out the deadshit evil killers name He shot children thru a scope in his rifle Deserves to die but we don’t have that which is a bit 🤔I is without doubt kill them
Rob Anderson
2025-09-01 06:52:22 +0000 UTCAmazing research as always. Reichert said multiple times (other cops too) how Ted did nothing to help out with “the river man” and was very smug about Ted’s offer. Now I hear that there was 22 pages that he wrote the task force right off the bat. Never knew of this out of several Bundy books I’ve read. I agree with James, Country music sucks and Bundy should have been kept alive.

2025-09-01 04:19:37 +0000 UTCYou Guys are Awesome!!! I didn't vote, because 1st, every episode is fantastic, and 2nd, I knew I was going to hear the next topic at a later date. Another Great episode!!! I tell friends and strangers about your podcast.

2025-09-01 02:14:05 +0000 UTCAnother great bonus, thank you! And Bundy should have been a consultant a la Hannibal Lecter. But just woulda had to cut his balls off so we don’t have a bunch of little Bundy kooks running around.

2025-08-31 20:42:52 +0000 UTCReichert lived for years off the GRK, he took forever to solve it and people think he’s a hero. Most people in the PNW can’t stand him.

2025-08-31 20:34:31 +0000 UTCWhat a fantastic Bonus!!! Thank you so much! 2025-08-31 19:18:40 +0000 UTCHow does someone claim to go to church like a good Christian then have a record for stealing? That hypocrisy kills me. And the do unto others commandment obviously didn't sink in for myla either.

2025-08-31 19:11:26 +0000 UTCLitter became an issue in the 1960s; Ladybird Johnson headed the Make America Beautiful movement. If you thought litter was bad in the 70s and 80s, you should have seen the 1960s. That’s when we noticed convicts picking up litter for the first time.

2025-08-31 17:05:07 +0000 UTCAs soon as James mentioned people caring about trash in the 70s I said “ the crying Indian commercial” and then he said it 🤣. Also, every time James said River Man I giggled a little, picturing a man with a big R on his chest and a knife in his hand

2025-08-31 15:58:48 +0000 UTCRegardless of how you feel about the death penalty killing Bundy was a wasted opportunity. He had a (fortunately) rare personality type that could have assisted law enforcement with catching other serial killers. He was already locked up away from society. I don’t believe we gained anything from his execution.

2025-08-31 05:23:13 +0000 UTCI lived within a mile or so of where Gary Ridgeway was active in the early-mid 80s and I remember seeing news reports as a 6-8 year old little girl. I was SO scared. One would think my parents would have explained why I needn’t be frightened. My best friend and I thought it was her stepdad, he looked just like one of the composites. Alas, it was not. But he was still a creepy dude.

2025-08-31 04:52:30 +0000 UTCMy only thing is why are we calling these teen girls women? When it comes down to it, whether Gary knew or not, alot of his victims were minors(14), they weren't women.
