A Troublemaking Bad Influence - Billy Martin - Part 3

This week, we catch up with Billy, as he is forced back into the Army, missing an entire season of Yankee baseball. He is also labeled as a "troublemaker", and a "bad influence" on teammates like Mickey Mantle, just because they go out drinking, every night, and a major brawl happened to beak out at the Copacabana, at Billy's birthday party! He fights, he scraps, and he gets traded, all over the league!

Watch the Yankees play a whole season, while you're in the Army, fight with your team'sa general manager, and be a bad influence on all of your friends with Billy Martin - Part 3!!

Check us out, every Tuesday!

We will continue to bring you the biggest idiots in sports history!!

When I was little, many southern grandparents still told their grandkids “Little Black Sambo” stories. So, it was an oral tradition, too. There’s an audiocassette of my grandmother telling folks stories and I’d say at least half were Sambo stories. The racial stereotypes in those stories are laid on heavy, too.

Can I get that sauce recipe?

Y’all, not complaining. I’m a Patreon member. I support everything you do but my husband and I live in Shreveport,LA and are unable to travel. He is recovering from a month long West Nile Virus stay in hospital. He still has Home Health, PT and, Speech Therapy coming to our home. I have spent every night for a month in hospital with him and you guys have are the only thing that have kept me sane when I put my Beats on and knew it was safe for me to take some time for me. Thank you for that and the giggles I felt guilty for having in such a dire time. For 2 days we didn’t think my husband would pull through but you guys pulled me through. Bless you for that.

The Astros' scandal would be a good Patreon episode...just sayin

I know when I like an athlete this much by part 3 that I'm going to get my heart broken.

I love this series. As a baseball nerd who loves stats, hearing about the personalities of these old time legends is awesome.

Sambo's restaurant was actually great when I was a Little kid I loved it, they were the first chain I think to go big on stuff for kids. The titular "Sambo" was a cartoon tiger. It was just a very unfortunate and poorly thought out name choice (because of the connotations).

Thanx for the mention guys!!!!!

This cultural kudos for carrying one’s alcohol well in the 50’s was indeed a thing. I remember my mother-in-law telling me that my father-in-law was a “very good drunk driver” back in the day. 😂

Amy Sousa

There was a CHILDREN’S BOOK called Little Black Sambo at one point. All I can remember is something about going fast round and round a tree….

My great uncle Norval Edwards was a GySgt USMC, WWII, Iwo Jima and he was a proud Marine til the day he died. Loved the Marines so much that he named is eldest daughter Maureen.

What an awesome postcard from history (and sports) ❤️

Not James and Jimmie, but My Dad Wrote a Porno is hysterical

New show idea: James and Jimmie reading erotica novels. Didn't know we needed it until we got that little snip it today 🤣 The way they could not get through a sentence without adding extra random things in and laughing would be so hilarious.

I still don’t know if James meant to or realized he said that. 😆

They’ll get to him eventually once his verdict and possibly “you sir, may fuck off!” sentencing (if guilty) comes in.

Didn’t a bunch of athletes serve and get drafted during Korea and WW2 without complaint? He should’ve played for the Brooklyn Draft Dodgers instead. Also, the Korean War went into an armistice in July 1953. So he tried to hide from a war that didn’t have anymore actual fighting going on. Fighting Billy Martin as a nickname? I think not. He tried to run away from a fight that had already ended. 🤣

"Take your pocket out of your hand"..... am I the only one who had to back up to make sure I heard that (in)correctly? It's early and I'm tired lol

Loved Billy, best manager ever Yankees were my team, 61 was so exciting between Mickie and Roger. I would mow our lawn with my transistor radio, listening to the games. I was a true fan. 14 years old and a girl. Baseball is my game! We had a sandlot field behind our house. The boys always picked me first for their team. I could catch, pitch and field with the best of them!

Rainee Courtnage

Great show

Chris Graham

Yaaaaay!

Haven’t listened to this yet, enjoyed first two and I don’t follow baseball! Have you seen the clip of Billy Martin on David Letterman? Hilarious. Randomly can across it on Instagram. (Also, I know you don’t do main stream as a rule, but would love to hear your takes on Mark Sanchez….)

Robin

That’s hilarious they mentioned the Cadillac he drove to judge him as “ain’t broke”…that was given to him by the dealer, right?

Samuel Katz

Wooooooooooooooooo
