We are not allowed to take photos because before phones, the flash would actually degrade the pigments and organics in paint. I’m for museums and other historical places continuing this practice tbh. Anywhere you go in the world that is a famous destination is going to be full of people, or at least expect it to be. You’re not Kanye proposing to Kim in 2013. There is access to these spaces, which is wonderful, but it comes along with the caveat that what we marvel at, will be populated. Just accept it’s gonna be a day, buy a Pope-ener from a peripheral Vatican merchant, pop a bottle of Italian wine and down it then enter and fecking accept this is our time. We are blessed to see the art and history.

They DO herd you through and they tell you MANY times no photos allowed! And Italian public restrooms are DISGUSTING!! Many are just a hole in the floor!

Fortunately, there was a bathroom attendant that had random leggings I could wear. I was 21 and didn’t care. However, there were girls in there with skirts that barely covered their asses but were skinnier than me so they’re very judgmental
