There's a good chance your kayak/canoe might flip, or the phone get dunked/smashed/overheated in the sun and fried. I do a 4-day race every year and several phones end up on the river bottom. Most folks don't want to take their new iPhone out there for good reason, but you need a phone to run the mandatory tracking app for safety.

Good call. That person also stayed in contact with all her exes and had them all believing they were still “the one”. And so much more. Watching this was a little triggering but I’m glad the documentarians didn’t just let her have her way with the story. Thanks again, James and Jimmie, for another great documentary episode.

The roommate wanted nothing to do with her, so she went into the bathroom for a long time (the only bathroom). Someone had to piss, so they knocked to get her out of there, but she claimed to have taken a bunch of Tylenol because she wanted to kill herself. My future husband and a friend grabbed her arms and legs to carry her outside and left her. She quietly left and everyone had a good laugh. That is something Sherri Papini would do.

With me it stems from trauma and a deep sense of not being enough, and the lies serve to get attention that you can then use to deal with the trauma without having to think about the actual trauma, so the lie is a bit of a stand in for the actual pain. But... that is not an excuse, I just thought it might be interesting to share this because it may shed some light on how in gods sweet name someone is capable of lying like that

No doubt she’d love to claim that diagnosis but I doubt she has it. She is a pathological liar and shows all the signs of someone with borderline personality disorder. She is narcissistic and blames everyone else except herself. I hope she gets a good therapist who can diagnose her properly but borderline disorder is very difficult to treat. And difficult to be in a relationship with someone who has it.

I think she’s a manipulator but I think she’s in control of it, not an actual disorder. Also - PhD level psychologists have to do clinical hours before they get licensed. They sometimes do work in hospital settings. (social workers too - not drs but do work in hospitals at times) Some are VERY competent but unfortunately not all. I think a lot of therapists are just smart enough to trick themselves. Also, any therapist (psychiatrist or psychologist) has to accept enough about the patient to form some kind of bond with them. You have to meet them where they’re at or it doesn’t work. It’s not that common for psychiatrists to do talk therapy anymore but those that do still need to find some acceptance for the patient in order to develop a rapport. So I think it’s tricky for them to be objective. A police psych professional doing an evaluation is different, but if you’re treating a patient you’ve got to have enough of a relationship that they’ll keep talking to you.
