I like to think one of the reasons Tama and Luffy clicked fast is in the little detail when they first met. Tama got her own “spunk” that Luffy really likes when she hit one of Kaido’s men to try and help him and herself escape. She was not just crying or moping which Luffy usually comments on other characters.
