Progress Update: August 2025

Greetings all,

As you likely noticed, Project A, "Unofficial Skyrim Patch," launched earlier this month. Despite it essentially being a retelling of forum arguments, it was extremely laborious to research due to the fact that the Bethesda forums only exist as archives on the Wayback Machine and the very scattered nature of the controversies, as well as some information about certain events being buried.

The completion of this video places us in an interesting position: we now have four videos that all are in the early research phase. While our pipeline means that overall efficiency has been greatly increased (as evidenced by the more frequent uploads), it can't increase the speed of any individual video being produced, since it still needs to go through all of the steps of production at the same rate, and the only video beyond the early research phase of production is bottlenecked.

We would like to have another video out by the end of the year, and we will work hard to try to make it happen, but depending on how research goes, we may end up with four videos in various stages of production come January.

Either way, we would like our next video to be a historical topic; we're all a bit burnt out on gaming topics. Ergo, the next video that we would like to focus on will likely be either Project D or E. I personally am most interested in Project E, but if Project D proves to be simpler to produce, then we may prioritize that one in order to maintain a more level release pace. Ryan is investigating a possible avenue to add some more visual flair to Project D, which he'll be testing soon.

While a more contemporary topic, DESR will take time soon to begin looking into Project C, as well, gathering and archiving relevant information to prepare for its eventual production sometime next year.

I am also scheduling a time to speak with my contacts about the Power Rangers video so that early planning work on that video can begin. We have a lot of irons in the fire at the moment.

All of this will begin next week, however; I intended to take a one or two week long vacation after the release of the Unofficial Skyrim Patch video, but my time has largely been occupied with other work, specifically my retirement from regular streaming. Quite simply, working full-time on Down the Rabbit Hole and maintaining a regular stream presence proved far too overwhelming, and so I'm making a decision that will at least give me some amount of time to rest in my weekly schedule. I've been hosting some final streams to say farewell to my audience there.

Ryan is currently editing through the new Warrens episode, which we would like to release in early September on The Other Channel. We always have a lot of fun recording them, and it's been nice to return to it. I hope you all enjoy.

Next month, we should have a more solid idea of our immediate direction for Down the Rabbit Hole, and I'm looking forward to sharing what we find with all of you.

-Fredrik

You're totally fine, they're reasonable questions. I've held off making the Mistakes videos due to the concern that they could damage my videos in the algorithm due to the infrequency of recent uploads. I'm considering uploading them to The Other Channel from now on to get rid of that concern so I can do the next one right away to catch up. I uploaded them to the main channel originally so that more people would see them, but the practical realities of YouTube might make that dangerous, unfortunately. The Q&As (and the audiobooks) are things that just fell through the cracks. I've carved out Fridays from now on to be the days where I catch up on non-DtRH work to help get things like that done, so if all goes well, they should appear in the relatively near future. Our new production pipeline has been doing wonders.

Thanks for all your hard work Fredrik. If you don't mind me asking: Is there a reason the third Mistakes video and the EVE Q&A video are not mentioned anymore? I really don't want to come off as demanding, I was just wondering.

Happy vacation! As a non gamer, I'm glad you're moving away from videogames for a bit. Those videos are incredible don't get me wrong, but your anthropological/history videos are my absolute favorites from you
