@Corey We have flashbacks of Damon killing people prior to coming to Mystic Falls. Stefan was a whole Ripper leaving piles of dead bodies behind him and none of that was directly a result of Katherine, unless you count Katherine turning the Salvatore brothers. I agree but also Elena would have ran into trouble regardless of whether Klaus showed up into town. You forget the important history of the Dopplegangers (can't say more without spoiling for Sean). Nonetheless, it's a slippery slope if we talk about who has justifiable reasons because Katherine did everything because she was fearful/running from Klaus who slaughtered her whole family, and Klaus went down a dark path because of the curse placed on him by his mother and the whole Mikaelson family turning into vampires without their consent (i.e parents killing them in their sleep).

2021-04-11 01:15:06 +0000 UTCI mean to be fair, the main characters only killed more so in retaliation to what Katherine or Klaus did. I love the originals and I don't really care for Elena lol. Even so, Damon became the person he was/killing people because Katherine played him, and Klaus literally ruined pretty much all of their lives the moment he showed up. lol Almost Elena whole family was pretty much killed by Katherine in some shape or form, she used Elena real mother, and pretty much all the Gilberts in some form too, and lead Klaus to her.

The problem is when that group of friends judge Katherine or Klaus as if they aren't murderers and selfish themselves. The Vampire Diaries’ paints its main characters as inherently good by merely glossing over certain things like Elena killing hundreds of vampires with Kol bloodline died.

Kol was trying to kill jeremy so that's justified killing kol. Stefan started jeremy being a hunter and started making him kill thousands of people to save elena and klaus made him train so he can have the map to the cure. She always apologizes wym lmfao. Please pick better examples lol

Like if i had her life id be the same crying and constantly trying to save or help everyone. She literally lost her whole family and she is always ready to die to save her friends and at the time she did everything she could to save her family even if that meant she dies. Elena isn't the best character on the show but she is not selfish at all.
