I mean. The get together might have happened, cause her moment of loving Damon was when she was still human. She picked Stefan at the moment but with more time we don’t know. Kat is honestly a great actress, absolutely love her. They honestly could have done so much with enzos character, hes pretty cool and has a solid backstory but nope they didn’t know what to do
