It's no spoiler at all lol but Laurel was always meant to be Black Canary. It's in the dc comics so that outfit and stuff is destined to happen so that's her identity. In the comics, it was originally the mom who was black canary who passed the legacy down to Laurel. This time in arrow though, it's the older sister. I feel like that is something you need to know to understand the storyline of black canary.
