This was the first episode of Pokémon I ever saw, and I think it was perfect at establishing the show. You have a bottle episode that introduces all the characters, focus on a specific Pokémon, information about the world by way of who programmed the Pokédex, someone catches a Pokémon, name drops for Seafoam Islands and Legendary Pokémon, and even an appearance from Giovanni. I didn’t pick up Amy plot holes as a 10 year old, but what I did get was a desire to continue watching Pokémon every Saturday (and weekdays after school). It was a great intro episode and I’ll always like it for that reason alone.
