One quibble on the episode featuring "Malachi" - the way it's pronounced in the episode ("malakhee", long "ee" sound) is indeed correct in its original Hebrew. So the answer to your question at the end, "didn't they have anyone in NYC who knew how to correctly pronounce the name?" is probably "yes." Further Hebrew fact: Adding the long "ee" sound after a noun indicates the possessive, so since "Malach" means "Messenger," "Malachi" means "My Messenger."
