The Snorlax episode for me was probably my favorite in the Orange Islands (maybe tied with the evil Pikachu one) because it was quintessential and had all the things I wanted to see: a new area, high stakes, a good use of Jigglypuff (who I don’t hate as much as Suede), Team Rocket doing something interesting in the plot, and most importantly, Ash catching a new Pokémon. Seeing that episode as a kid was amazing and if I wanted to show someone the quintessential Orange Islands episode, that’s what I’d pick.

2019-11-01 02:01:39 +0000 UTCI’m surprised The Joy pf Pokémon is an honorable mention for you, since for me, that episode is one of the most boring. There’s no conflict in the early episode, and then it only exists later because the heroes are uncharacteristically stupid. The Team Rocket shows up long enough to be blasted off again. There’s no real plot, and it’s easily in the bottom 5 for me.

On reflection it was an enjoyable season and I do also wish they had done more with the freedom this season allowed for by not being tied to a game

2019-10-31 09:05:38 +0000 UTCMeowth's good episodes have always been mixed for me, because I can recognize the good writing, but Meowth is one of my least favorite characters and so I don't focus on him. Meowth Rules always stands out in my memory, but I also never look forward to it. Still, it's a very solid list. I'd probably have Enter the Dragonite or Stun Spore Detour at number one, with Meowth Rules as a begrudging honorable mention
