2020-01-08 23:44:21 +0000 UTC@Corey Simmons THANK YOU! Yeah, when I actually watched that Snivy episode, it was one of the biggest face palms I’ve ever done. Not because of the episode, but because of the fans reaction to it. When pikachu battled Snivy, Pikachu was suffering from a freaky illness given to it by a legendary that made it UNABLE TO USE ANY OF ITS ELECTRIC ATTACKS. It was also periodically experiencing weird zaps of pain from said illness, and I’m willing to bet all of that made Pikachu dizzy and disoriented. I doubt Pikachu could have defeated a Dunsparce in that condition, let alone a freak’n starter, which are usually a bit stronger than your average wild Pokémon.

2019-12-31 19:09:54 +0000 UTCIt's may be worth noting that Charizard vs. Chikorita is pretty much the whole reason that Ash starts over with just Pikachu in every region starting with Hoenn (Ruby & Sapphire). Yeah, it hurts to see him just abandon all his Poké-friends with Professor Oak, but without that, it's hard to justify why he isn't curb-stomping every battle from here on out (and even then we *still* got stupid stuff like a Snivvy who has never battled beating Ash's Pikachu for…reasons).

2019-12-31 01:12:34 +0000 UTCThis episode has I think the biggest missed opportunity in all of Johto. The ideal plot choice in my mind? LET CASEY JOIN ASH's GROUP. Think about it- a rookie trainer paired up with a seasoned veteran , learning the ropes and actually catching new stuff that comes along. How great would that have been??!

Honestly Ash has been a bigger jerk before, but there is something visceral that occurs in me when someone mocks a Baseball team for its reputation of losing.
