If Suede is still wondering about the move melt I'm pretty sure the it's Acid Armor in English, at least according to Bulbapedia, which just raises the users defense stat which is dumb because Apple Acid is a special attack move. So it's just another case of the anime taking extreme liberties with how moves work.
