Suede's Pokémon Journey: Episode 204

Right On, Rhydon!

It was another rough month, I hate how weak my immune system is. Got hit with lingering COVID symptoms and then misjudged how much time and energy the play I was in would be.

Lesson learned! Next month I'm making a huge effort to do SCRIPTS FIRST. Scripts are what always trip me up and I always have a better track record early in the month. Even if I don't get the videos done, having the scripts is a huge load off of my brain. So enjoy the latest Shudo review, have fun with the commentaries and look forward to a SCRIPT MARATHON one a day for four days starting on the sixth (NZT)! But for now, this.

The goldeen gags in this one were on point

I’ve assumed Pokémon towns are more like city-states than towns. Roads are hit or miss because there’s squabbling over who should pay for it while Pokémon centers are solely the responsibility of their town.

That sounds much better, thank you. I foresee a trip to a hotwing restaurant in your future

The government funding makes sense. As long as the populace at large has access to Pokémon and the necessary facilities to keep said Pokémon healthy and strong, they barely need anything else. Pokémon can be used for basically any task. They make fire, electricity, water, and have the strength to replace most heavy machinery.

I'm thinking what they meant to portray is something kinda similar to how some people react to Spicy foods. Some people will be all "Hard NOPE" if wings are even mildly spicy. - Even though its perfectly edible, and won't harm you. Meanwhile Rhydon here has developed a tolerance to the unpleasant feeling, and is like someone eating wings covered in Carolina Reaper hot sauce, cause the wings are just that gooood.

So, Pokemon aren't hurt more by their weaknesses, they're just being traumatized by their fears..? Is--is that better? That feels worse! Like, physical pain can be faced, overcome, and recovered from, but attacking their inner fears and psyche seems horrifying! yes, I know Psychic type attacks are a thing, but in the case of Pokemon I've generally thought of them as headaches or brain fuzzies, symptoms without long lasting effects

Feels like forever since we had a "What does this Pokemon do" gag. Definitely one of my fave recurring jokes. Hope you're taking care of yourself and feel better soon, Suede

So funny thing there may be a reason why Rhydon can use Surf and other Water Type Moves and that may be because both Rhyhorn and Rhydon are most likely Based on two Ultra(man) series Kaiju named Seamons and Seagoroth in The Return of Ultraman. Where in the Two parter Terror of the Tsunami Monster - Tokyo in Peril! And Terror Of The Two Giant Monsters, The Great Tokyo Tornado. We see two Kaiju that look very similar to Rhyhorn and Rhydon. Heck they even share similar naming conventions by keeping the same first syllable. While nothing officially stated I don’t doubt it because it has been said that a lot of Pokémon takes inspiration from UltraSeven.
