Suede's Pokémon Journey, Episode 206

The first Master Ball episode in this long, sad season, but at least it's there!

Wow, my meds actually seem to be doing something for the first time in years! I don't know if it's that or the therapy is finally hitting but I went from making one video per month to FIFTEEN! Granted most of those were shorts but it's still more productive than I've been in so long and it feels good.

Still two commentaries this month as I feel like Calamity June is really one video split apart, but it's the best sin that something's actually changing that I've had in a while. All this and Let's hope it sticks!

I do miss Misty's earlier traits before the stereotypical takes of being "the mom" took over, wish they had run with those ones more strongly.

Death of Ink

So glad this got your highest score as I consider this the best episode I’ve seen. Even as a child I felt how much more mature and deep the message was than if she had just been cured. I also always felt connected to this one, seeing as how a childhood trauma gave me terrible ichthiophobia, but I still love aquariums

What you showed was an Ultra Ball

Brock Harrison

I was wondering how you’d handle this episode. Turns out more than I thought

Drew Luczynski

Oh I agree. This has to be one of the most well-handled storylines in the series, if I'm being honest.

Ah, it was so great to see this episode covered. While I have been very critical of a lot of Shudo's other episodes in Johto (I'm looking at you, The Light Fantastic and The Art of Pokémon), but this episode is Shudo at his A-game. While I do find there's a bit of a pacing issue with how it lays out Joy's backstory, I'd say overall this is a very well done episode that handles its subject matter better than most. The only other show I know of that did something like this oddly enough was Sonic Boom, where Sonic's fear of water was a recurring plot point and while he did handle his fear in an emergency situation, he did made it clear that not only did he still have his fear, but that it actually be worse now. TL;DR, this episode is well deserving of its Master Ball rating and easily the best episode of the entire season.

ARG I'M SO USED TO NOT USING THE MASTER BALL IN JOHTO! I need sleep but I'll change it and reupload tomorrow, thanks for the heads up

Suede

You used the ultra ball image, not the masterball during your ranking.
