October Monthly Prompt

Five's a good number. I think you'll quickly see that they all have a similar theme.

1. The Not-So-Vengeful Spirit

The house by the river had been abandoned for a century or more, and there was more than one tale about how it was haunted by the vengeful spirit of the woman that had lived there before her husband had supposedly drowned her. Well, he lost a bet and now he had to stay there for a night.

Whatever. All these haunted houses always turned out to be fake, right?

2. The Summoning

He had gone to bed after another dull day's work when he woke up in a chalky circle surrounded by three hooded figures. Apparently they were three (smoking hot) witches and he was a mighty demon they had summoned.

Well, why should he disabuse them of that notion? Maybe this was the universe's way of giving him a break.

3. The Bloody Tree (might change the name still)

There's an old, old tree in town that apparently brought you good fortune if you let a bit of your blood fall on its roots. Well, he'd just been stabbed three times by some maniac over a phone, and it was just standing there, so he decided he might as well bleed on it rather than the dirt.

Whatever he was expecting, he wasn't expecting it to turn into something vaguely womanly and try to nurse him back to health. He just figured he was tripping balls as he bled out.

Especially when it suddenly turned into a porno.

4. The Vampire's Groom

He was just walking home from class when he was suddenly bonked over the head with a stick and spirited away. He woke up in a room straight out of the 19th century with a very pale goth-looking girl staring at him in an old timey wedding dress.

Apparently she's been very lonely and they were to be married? This was definitely not on his bingo card this morning.

5. My Liver for a Wife!

He was on a work trip in South Korea when he met a very pretty girl at a karaoke bar who really wanted to get him alone. Well, it was definitely too good to be true. When she started digging out his liver, he thought this was it. News at 11, dumbass foreigner gets his organs harvested.

At least until he realized she had nine very fluffy tails and apparently had only taken half his liver, saying the rest would grow back. Then she snuggled into him, blood and all, and said that she was keeping him?

Still not the worst date he'd ever been on.
