In the pipeline

Hey everyone, I hope you all had a safe and happy Leif Erikson Day, which I know is just as big a deal in your households as it is in mine. I've got lots of cool ideas for this autumn – I don't know if all of these will materialize, but I think they've got potential! What do y'all think?

The Forgotten Confederate Monuments of New Orleans ~ Though the four most famous Reb statues were removed in 2017, a few remained on the neutral ground (median) of Jefferson Davis Parkway – recently renamed Norman C. Francis Parkway in honor of a civil rights activist. Two have been removed by extralegal means, and it's a bit of an unsolved mystery . . .

The Biggest Badass in Canadian History ~ I refer of course to Pierre LeMoyne, Sieur de Iberville... wait, who?? He was a Quebecker soldier and explorer who crippled the English economy during King William's War in a series of surgical lightning raids on fur trading and fishing settlements in Canada. Will probably ask J.J. McCullough if he wants to collab on this one, but no promises.

The Puritan Vegan Celebrity Hermit of the English Civil War ~ Roger Crabb was a veteran of the Roundhead army who became convinced that consuming the flesh and secretions of animals was a grievous sin. He sold all his possessions, gave the profits to the poor, and went to live in the woods near his village. A famous oddity during his life, he's principally remembered now as the first non-East Asian vegan in recorded history. In 1655 he wrote a really weird manifesto, which would be my main source for the video.

Since it isn't looking like a Halloween-themed video will come together this year, I was also thinking of doing a livestream commentary of Ravenous on Halloween night – could be fun, and who knows? Maybe the start of a new tradition.

Oh yeah, and I've already started writing Frozen '50s Man episode 2.
