PSA about the next video

I'm sure many of you have seen the newest Checkmate Lincolnites episode, where the Nazis shows up at the end. Just in case you don't know, this Nazi is a recurring character on my channel, who originated in the video "Ancient Aryans: The History of Crackpot Nazi Archaeology." This week, I'm making another stand-alone Nazi video, and I don't want it to take you by surprise.
There's a reason why the Nazi doesn't show up too often on my videos. A YouTuber in character as an SS officer presents a powerful and shocking image (especially in a comedic context), and I strive to use that power responsibly. I have a few rules I follow when portraying the Nazi:
1) We should be laughing AT the Nazi, not WITH him.
2) The Nazi's appearance should always be in the context of teaching something of tangible educational value.
3) The ultimate goal of the Nazi's appearance should be to, in no uncertain terms, DEPLORE the ideology he represents.
This week I'm going to make a video called "My Nazi Roommate," where the Nazi is roommates with a liberal hipster and the two get into all sorts of shenanigans. Ultimately, the point of the video will be to teach the audience about Lebensraum (living space), a late 19th and early 20th century German concept that was the prime motivation for the military expansion of the Third Reich. Instead of conquering Europe, the Nazi will conquer the refrigerator in his apartment, disposing of the hipster's kombucha and replacing it with German beer. The video will have a downer ending, leaving no room in any reasonable viewer's mind that this ideology is dangerous and evil.
I just wanted to give y'all a heads up, and explain my reasons for using this character as an educational device. I know some of you know my reasons already, but I want to make it very clear what I'm trying to accomplish here.

I really respect your decency, makes me feel bad that I have used the fact that there is a Luftwaffe fighter pilot on Wikipedia who shares my last name and whose black uniform and armband makes him look SS to the ignorant viewer to make dumb jokes about my great uncle from Argentina who would never give us a visit :/

2020-05-19 00:40:29 +0000 UTCHopefully by now, all your patrons and regular viewers will know that you don't use the Nazi character for shock-horror laughs but to highlight the totally (and horrifyingly) bizarre set of ideas that their party was founded upon. I'l be rooting for the hipster!
