I keep my head bowed, my eyes trained on my fingers that are restlessly toying with a stray strand of fabric.

Perhaps... I should...

But my train of thought is cut off abruptly before I can pursue it further — by the impact of a soft pillow colliding with my arm.

For a moment, I can only stare, startled and confused, at the familiar pillow that landed in my lap out of nowhere. Then I slowly lift my gaze, meeting Jori's eyes glinting with mirth.

Jori: Hehe. Stop looking so glum, Rae Rae! I didn't tell you the story to make you sad, ya know?

I stare at him. Then at the pillow.

Raenelle: Oh, you're so on. You have no idea what you've started.

In one swift movement, I slide off the bed and swing the pillow at Jori's shoulder in retaliation — but he reacts by quickly fading out of existence so that the pillow simply passes through him harmlessly.

Jori: Ha, too slow!

Raenelle: Hey! That's not fair! Get back here and fight me properly, you coward!

Jori: Fine, fine! But let me grab my own weapon first. You can't expect me to fight you unarmed now, can you?

I turn to the sound of his voice, just in time to see a grinning Jori re-appear by the side of my bed, now holding my second pillow in his hands.
