ALEXiThymiA: Chapter 24: First Day of Supers High School (2) Playing Hooky at the Petting Zoo

Chapter 24

First Day of Supers High School (2)

Playing Hooky at the Petting Zoo

Alexa’s first class did not go as expected. In fact, technically it did not go at all. Or rather, she did not go.

Alexa had just entered the classroom and chosen a seat near the back when there was an important tapping on the classroom door.

Wrap-knock.

“Come in,” Instructor Juleman said, her voice clearly carrying through the extra thick door.

With that, a skinny person that Alexa recognized as being one of the office staff workers, from when Mr. Mackie, the school’s dean of discipline, was providing their one-piece school uniform, and their class schedules.

“There is a TSI agent here for Ms. Thyme, says it is about an ongoing case.” The Male secretary said.

At that Instructor Juleman just turned to Alexa, “well, I guess I will see you when you get back. Pleasure meeting you Ms. Thyme.”

Alexa nodded, then gathered her backpack and proceeded to follow the secretary to the office.

There was a form of strained nervousness on the secretary that caused the man to stand fully erect as they began making their way down the hallway.

Only once they were out of earshot of the classroom did the secretary even speak.

“Do you know why the Captain of the TSI team would come here directly?”

“Likely related to that hazing video.”

“Oh, dear, they got you too?” The secretary said, with a look of shock.

At that, Alexa shook her head.

“No, I got them. Then said they needed to post it, or I would talk with them.”

“Talk?”

Alexa nodded, “Yes, talk.”

“You think they would post it?”

“I know for a fact they did.” Alexa said.

“Okay. Do you need me to speak to the principal?”

“For what?”

“So, she can host a meeting on bullying and how it will not be tolerated.” The secretary said.

“I do not think I went that far.” Alexa replied.

The secretary looked confused for a second, but before he could go any further, they had reached their destination. There at the center of the office was the small of stature, but larger than life personality of TSI Captain Johnston.

Alexa paused to look at her, the way she commanded respect by just her posture alone. Granted she clearly had enough power to burn down this school and all the kids in it before anyone could say Chernobyl, but that never had to be displayed. In fact Alexa figured that most didn’t even recognize the true power that Captain Johnston had.

“Captain, here is the student you requested to see.” The now visibly frightened secretary said.

“Good. Your name is Alexa Thyme, is that correct?” The Captain began.

“That is correct.” Alexa replied in her calm cold tone.

“Well, we have a dozen missing persons cases, and you are seemingly at the heart of it all. I will need to take you in with me to the precinct to help answer some questions.” TSI Captain Johnston said.

There was a commotion, as a few people made to provide some form of protection for Alexa, but she waved them off.

“Okay.”

At Dawning Light, everyone knew of the TSI base and their fearless commander. Along with her two Lieutenants. That fact that she came personally, spoke volumes about not only her respect for this girl’s power, but just how much trouble she was in.

“Turn around, place your hands behind your back. These are enhanced cuffs, designed to cut off a Psychic from their powers. Do not test your strength against these, first you will fail. Second, I will have to get protective of my equipment, and you do not want that.”

“Okay.” Alesa said calmly, as she did exactly as ordered.

Then the Captain cuffed her. No violent fight, no yelling. Just a 6’2 woman, getting cuffed by a larger than life 5’5 TSI captain. That was the true way Alexa Thyme, left Dawning Light High School.

What happened next, was the captain was seen escorting the much larger woman through the school, to a waiting reinforced squad car out front. Despite the circumstances, Alexa looked stoic, her face calm, even as the crazed captain yelled obscenities for her to move faster.

There was even a look of resistance as the smaller captain pulled down on the woman’s arms, only for them not to budge at all. Such a show of dominance was huge, especially for the students who began recording.

“Oh, my gods. That is the new girl. First, she like took down Joe Dugan, now she is being taken in for murder. That girl is a complete badass.” One vlogger said, into their camera as they managed to live stream the whole encounter. From when Alexa was being walked down the hallway. To when the short Captain could be heard screaming about a dozen missing persons.

Alexa of course heard all this but said nothing.

Instead. she followed her boss to her vehicle, where she was forcefully pushed in to the reinforced car. By that, she just had to duck.

Lieutenant Bullford was there, holding open the door, to make sure Alexa got in safely.

“Oh, man they expected big trouble, as they brought out Bullford the Progenitor.” Another student said, as he watched the procession.

Finally, by the time they were all in the car and pulling away no less than 30 students had come to watch the event. Which was little more than a tall woman getting into the backseat of a car with their hands tied behind their back.

Then the larger than average TSI vehicle turning on their lights and peeling out of the parking lot.

“Go ahead, use your Telekinesis to remove those cuffs.” Bullford said.

Click.

“The heck, let me see those.” Bullford said, as if astonished that Alexa could do as he asked. “Those can’t be the real cuffs.”

With that, Alexa held out the cuffs and gave them to the Lieutenant.

“Wait, these are even the Ultra High-Grade ones? And she still took them off, using her mental powers?” Bullford said, clearly directing his ire to Johnston who was the driver.

Despite her small stature and seeming inability to peer over the steering wheel, she maneuvered through traffic with remarkable grace and precision.

“Told you my girl is awesome. Now pay up.” Johnston said, holding out one hand.

Then just as quickly Bullford handed over both the cuffs and a twenty-dollar bill with the exchange.

“You are probably wondering what happened?” Bullford asked, turning his attention back to Alexa.

Alexa for her part had already put it all together and shook off the Lieutenant. “Not really, seems pretty straight forward. You two made a wager as to whether I could break out of the anti-psychic handcuffs. This was likely done after the Captain insisted in taking me out in cuffs to increase my credibility, while also giving us a buffer.”

Bullford, just blinked.

“See. Told you she was smart.”

“Yeah, noticing.” Bullford said, as he pulled out another twenty note, and handed that one over to the captain as well.

“Let me guess, that one was based on whether I could explain to you, before you could…” Alexa began, but was cut off by Bullford.

“Stop, just stop. Please.” Bullford said, as he pulled out another twenty note that the captain also took with a malicious smile.

“Seriously though, we do have a bit of a situation. We have twelve werewolves, some of which we have had to feed, to let them live to this point.” Johnston said, changing the subject.

“So, two packs worth.” Alexa noted.

“Very good. The only problem is they both popped up in two different areas, but we can trace their Lykanthropy strain to the same master.” Bullford continued the briefing, while Johnston drove.

“Meaning the master is likely trying to create a super cell.” Alexa finished.

“Well, if you already know all of this, then why even give you the briefing?” Bullford said, only half serious.

“No, you gave me the context clues, I was stating mine as a question to make sure I understood the concern.” Alexa said her voice still calm and collected.

“Even when she is trying to be consoling, she sounds patronizing. I can see why you like her so much.” Bullford said.

At that, Alexa just sat there. She knew speaking would only exacerbate the problem.

There were a few other attempts to start up a conversation, but ultimately none took.

Only once they got close to the TSI headquarters building did Johnston make her opinion known. “See Bullford, you always have to go and make things weird.”

“What did I do?” Bullford asked, defensively.

With that Captain Johnston just shook her head. “The fact that you must ask, proves you did it. Anyways, I am going to take our Consultant down.”

With that Bullford looked visibly shocked, but ultimately acquiesced to his captain’s commands. “Yes, Ma’am.”

With that it was just Alexa and the Captain walking down the different hallways to the deep holding cells.

“He’s a good guy, though I ultimately just need to use these moments like this, when he makes mistakes to help keep him humble. Otherwise, he begins making careless mistakes.” Johnston said, in this Alexa clearly understood that the captain was speaking about her Lieutenant.

Alexa nodded.

Not having to look back Captain Johnston apparently recognized the gesture, as she continued her speech.

“Honestly, as you can no doubt guess. We shortchanged you. The only problem is, we only have so many crystals that we can offer at a given time. If it was just a matter of money, then that would be no problem. But you want crystals as a payout, and well we have never met anyone with your proclivity for collecting crystals. As it is, know that we have enough for this visitation, but most of these came from my personal hoard.”

Alexa nodded.

“With how long the drive is from Dawning Light, we won’t be able to do this often. In fact, normally we would wait, but as it is, many of the turned are going well past the point of no return. We have been feeding all a healthy assortment of pigs meat, but there are a few who have refused the meat for the last three days.”

Alexa nodded at this, this was a sign that the werewolf in question as beyond critical, and would only be able to sustain itself, by feeding from the flesh of its own kind.

“I do not mind taking these, even if you will write a receipt for crystals to be paid in the future, I will still do this.” Alexa said.

“That is very admirable.” The captain said, as she did the whole scanning and typing in of an exceedingly complex pin number. Alexa felt she could guess the pin if she had to, but without the biometrics or other factors, knowing a long pin would be pointless. Also, why force her way down here to do for free, when she could get paid for doing so.

“As for a ride home, don’t worry. We have instructed your brother to pick you up from here once he is done with school.”

“You know he feels guilty.” Alexa noted.

At that Johnston just smiled. “You know?”

“My brother didn’t tell me if that is what you are asking. But he doesn’t need to, his face gives everything away.” Alexa said.

“Very well. Good to know.” The captain said.

As they entered the main floor with all the werewolf designed holding cells, Alexa was surprised to see a crew of twenty-four women standing by with blankets, and clothes.

“Yeah, we learned from our last time. The whole process was humiliating enough. The last thing we need is for survivors to state how men were outside gawking at them.” Johnston said.

“Bullford didn’t…”

“I know. But the optics look bad. That is another reason why I am here. See technically we can’t legally do this. Which is why you as a Consultant can just go in there, tell them: to calm down, that you are here for them. Then ask them to gain control over themselves.”

“Got it.”

With that Johnston went to the first of several doors and lightly opened it up. Before the monster inside even had a chance to react, Alexa was in the room moving.

“Calm down.”

Wham!

“I am here for you.”

Bam!

“You need to gain control over yourself, before help can be provided.”

Wham! Wham!

Then just like that, TSI’s newest consultant managed to help twelve new perspective victims open about themselves, and what happened to them.

None of the former victims complained about the harsh treatment, or the sadistic smile worn by their consultant, when they first met. Instead, everyone was more than happy to sign to nondisclosure agreement that both made them a part of the pre-awakened community and made sure no one spoke about the newest TSI Consultant’s unorthodox consulting methods.

"but most of these came from my personal horde". Did you maybe mean "hoard"/"stash"?
