Nano Lab 1-Max's Beginning

The illusive 'Designer' showed he had almost unlimited power, and against the General's wishes, he was able to establish his nano lab at the Guard outpost. In an unneeded hangar, staff and equipment were installed for one purpose. They were to take a man with super genes, already augmented with internal electronics like the Guardsmen, and eager to serve into the next phase of development.

Max was a fully 'activated' super, meaning his latent super qualities had begun to manifest thanks to an injury at the gym. He was rescued by chance from a female ambush of another super who turned into collateral damage. The Designer had spent enough time with him that he was comfortable making him his first test subject. Since all 'supers' are implanted with neural networks at birth that grow with them, it is not possible to create new ones at adulthood. But now, with self-replicating nanobots, a passable secondary network could be established. The question was, what would it do to the man who it was inflicted on. And was it dangerous beyond him?

"Are you ready Max?" The Designer's voice came from recessed speakers in the room.

"Yes Designer!" Max was almost too excited as though he had no concept of the danger he could be facing. A problem almost certain to plague men like him with their less than super brains.

"Start the process." The Designer ordered.

Colonel: "There was nothing we could do to get this sent somewhere else?"

General: "No. Do you think this will work?"

Colonel: "I have no knowledge of the science. But look at him. He's already a freak of nature. I just can't see something that bulky and clumsy making an effective warrior."
