It was definitely the naming of the whole pack at once that drained Rimuru from above any kind of warning from Great Sage, to below the minimum to retain consciousness. If he had started with the wolves, he likely would have got a warning before it drained him all the way.
I'm not even sure Slimes can evolve in this world.

Gotta love the complete ignorance of Rimuru, accidentally creating an army of gobli- wait a second...

Pretty sure the power granted by a name is proportional to the power of the one granting the name - but also to name something you have to be significantly more powerful than even a goblin named by an immensely powerful being. It would also explain why Rigur (the first) never named any of the other goblins.

I can post you later on some more Details about the Thing with Names etc, but for now its still mostly Spoiler Territory, so i guess i only can give you Details after you watched Episode 9 or 10.
I can also give for other Stuff Explanations ( I know a Webside and i read the Reincarnated as a Slime Light Novels for myself) Explanations etc.

So yeah , names are pretty important in this world , it costs magicules as they were saying AAAND the stronger the one who named you the stronger you get :) ... So you can already imagine what a boost he got right in the second episode when one of the most powerful beings named him lol
