Again, it seems like my comment deleted, and this time I'm sure I posted it =| luckily I decided to copy it just in case: What a great finale to this season. I hope the flashback with Nanachi and Mitty wasn't too heartbreaking. There's a lot of things to analyze in this episode, though truth be told, it would take too much time to put into words, so I'll just mostly talk about the most hard to grasp character in this episode: Bondrewd, The Sovereign of Dawn. What can you say about Bondrewd? From what you can tell from his personality alone, he somehow doesn't come across as villainous or even sinister. Despite doing experiments that are without a doubt immoral to most, he doesn't seem to think of himself as morally corrupt at all, and sees it as a necessity and privilege for the children to "take part" in the work he does. In fact, from the way he speaks, he doesn't seem to have any distain towards the children whatsoever, even as he performs the experiments. Even though we the audience are understandably suspicious of him right from the start, the children however do not, which is unsurprising as it's common for kids to look to adults for guidance; even so, in a messed up sort of way, Bondrewd honestly did treat them with the utmost kindness up to the very end, whilst also presenting them with an opportunity that they were willing and excited to help out with whole heartedly. They accepted things at face value. There are actually some who consider Bondrewd to be the antithesis of Riko. Just something that might be worth thinking about going forward.
