Glad you were so amazed with this movie; pretty much a 10 out of 10 for me =) the Prushka scene near the end... really got to me. The fact that she and Riko became so close in such a short amount of time, to the point where she practically offered to become her white whistle is both heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time. The credits song at the end, Forever Lost, is actually based on Riko's feelings over the price that needed to be paid in order for her and her friends to move forward: that price being Prushka =( it wouldn't surprise me if that was Bondrewd's plan from the start. You know, while I don't agree with Bondrewd's methods by any means, in a messed up sort of way, he's not unreasonable. When he was talking to Nanachi about coming back to work for him in the beginning he was genuinely sorry that he misunderstood and harmed Reg. It never occurred to him that it was probably a bad thing to kidnap and torture his guests and apologized after Nanachi told him not to do it. He also does his experiments in order to help people navigate the abyss. He's the only raider who's actually trying to solve the problem of the curse. I don't know if they mention it in the anime, but in the manga the people in the city look at Bondrewd as a pioneer since in some sense he really is. Also hid first sacrifice, even before doing any of the inhumane things to the children, was to sacrifice his own body. He isn't simply cruel in the sense that someone like Gilgamesh is, but he just doesn't have any moral compunctions about death and killing. If you think about everything he did as a necessary sacrifice to understand the nature of the abyss then he didn't do anything wrong, which is how he looks at it. He's a very interesting villain since he never really guides the viewers in trying to figure him out, which is just good character writing by the author. He is a sociopathic optimist when you get right down to it. Interesting that Bondrewd would point out that Riko was more of a kindred spirit than he thought. In a lot ways, it's true; Bondrewd and Riko have very similar characteristics to each other, yet they're total opposites when it comes to morality. Can't help but question why they didn't get more scenes together. Though I am glad that she dealt the finishing blow; it's poetic in a way. Anyway, there are a lot of neat parallels between Riko and Bondrewd: for one they are both very curious, excitable and quick to praise others. When Reg first wakes up in Orth he is strapped to a table, and we hear that Riko has been running tests on him including inserting a ruler into his anus. When Reg wakes up in Bondrewds lair, it's basically a more horrific version of that scene. Among the first things Riko does with Reg in the first episode is also taking him to a spot where they can see the majestic dawn rise over the city of Orth and the prosperity of the city is in large part driven by the research of Bondrewd the Sovereign of the Dawn. Among other things he was also researching the birthday death phenomenon which was basically the point of that plot thread. Riko also guesses that Bondrewd sacrificed himself to get the white whistle, showing how they think similarly and reminds me of how Riko chose the harder more painful form of amputation to have a more useful arm, when she got poisoned in the series. More subtly, both Riko and Bondrewd give personal names to the relics they discover, Riko even naming Reg. Funnily enough the name of Bondrewds cutting light Sparagmos is a ancient greek term that describes a practice of tearing peoples bodies apart to worship the gods =| Their differences and reason why her and the gang are ultimately triumphant are twofold. First off, Riko's greater conviction: for Bondrewd to continue his research, send it up and apply it, he ultimately can't make a decisive final plunge into the Abyss like Riko plans to do; while Bondrewd had the conviction to even sacrifice himself to produce Your Worth, in a way he still chickened out by using the Zoaholic. Reg is also ultimately a creature from deeper than Bondrewd dared to venture. There's also his disregard for the body, having sacrificed his own for his whistle. The importance of the body is highlighted throughout MiA with Mitty's soul being imprisoned because of her ruined body, or in general the characters being very grounded, needing to eat, sleep, poop and having a body that acts on it's own like Reg somehow knowing how utilize his incinerator. Their bodies are what keeps the main team grounded and helps them cherish life. Riko has just spent a long time relearning how to use her injured arm, and when she loses the feel of her body in this movie when she climbed the stairs that first time, it's traumatic. Even Reg the "robot" suffers from phantom pain in the movie. Bondrewd on the other hand has become a disembodied mind switching between Umbra Hands and has lost the ability to truly understand people and sees bodies as disposable and also destroys leftover bodies at the start of the movie. Of course the gang still uses their minds to fight tactically, but they are the full package body and mind; that's what makes them human. This is also paralleled in how Bondrewd does not consider blood ties very important for a family, pretty much seeing it as base; and believe it or not, despite his actions, his love for Prushka and the other children are in fact genuine. Riko meanwhile abandoned the people she had real bonds with to search for her mother with whom she has a basically purely biological connection. Though arguably she would have eventually gone anyways. I also love the title Prushka suggested, "Riko, the Sovereign of Children", because not only is her progress because of her ability to befriend kids (Reg, Nat, Marulk, Nanachi, Prushka), but also because she is a kid and does not get intimidated or bogged down like adults. She shows herself to truly be the kid of Lyza the Annihilator leaving massive destruction in her wake to push further, and by highlighting that she still has her baby teeth the movie mentions another minor benefit of being a kid.

To comment on the movie itself and not my inability to find it before now: Dear god Bonedrewd was uncomfortable to behold. He ticked a lot of the real life psychopath indicators, which was extremely freaky. Especially with Prushka, distant as he may have been, I feel like he actually did care about her as his daughter, but "everything is a tool, including emotions, let's mutilate her and stuff her in a suitcase!" took priority.

You’re right, that would be better, but it was surprisingly hard to find good shots of them to use (especially ones with two or three of them in it). I’ll probably look around more to try and find a better one, though.

Before I watch this, just thought I'd mention; I feel like it would have made more sense to have Prushka or Bondrewd in the thumbnail and background. Or even have all three main characters instead of just Reg. They're just as prominent to the story afterall; though admittedly I do think Riko could have gotten a bit more screen time in this movie. Hopefully the next arc circumvents that (haven't read the manga).

It's pretty easy to find dude. Every pirate site has it, or you can just torrent it. I guess it might be different depending on your country.

Wait what, I still can't find ANYWHERE to watch this movie legal or otherwise, what is this sorcery???
