The Anime let out some Details about other Shields that he aquired earlyer, like the Sharpening Shield. He got it after absorbing a Grindstone from the Weapon Shops Guy and he used it to sharpen Raphtalias Sword while they were outside the Town ( special equip effect: automatic sharpening (8 hours), consumption (large) ) The Reason why Motoyasu did something this Stupid? The Light Novel explained that due to the Fact that he believes this is still only a Game, he came to the Village and remembered that there was a Quest in that Village to bring back a Seed to relieve them from Starving. The Game never had the other Effects so he ignored what the Villagers said and brought the sealed Seed back. For the Shields Naofumi unlocked: BioPlant Shield: -equip bonus: plant reform -special equip effect: hook Mandragora Shield: equip bonus: plant analysis He also unlocked in the Light Novel the PlantRiwe Shield with equip bonus: intermediate compounding recipes 2.

Due to that I mostly just brush it off as a "it's just a phase thing" (which really think it is, and even more so hope it is)
