Meatspace Production Blog - #2

Hello folks, this is Trilbee! If you're reading this then you're a Patron who is helping to make 'Meatspace' a reality...or maybe not. More on that later. It's been a while, so I thought I would give you folks an exclusive update on what is happening since my last Production Blog in June.

Well, pre-production happened, the money was ready to go into the bank-accounts of the respective parties, the actors cleared their schedules for the two week shoot, the location was set, the paper-work was done, the rehearsals were about to start and...

...it didn't happen.

Now, I don't want to sound bitter and place the blame on other people, but with this case, there really was someone/something people to blame. The production company would would be filming the pilot, providing the cameras and sound equipment and getting PAID to do so did not respond to any of my communications.

Despite saying they were game for filming it, saying they wanted to branch out into television, even quoting me a figure for the two weeks of filming I said I'd be willing to pay them, they wouldn't answer their phones, reply to my e-mails or answer the door when I knocked.

Complete radio silence for a job I was going to pay them for. This wasn't them volunteering and having second thoughts (which would be frustrating and understandable). This was PAID work they were actively avoiding. I was practically dangling money in their face and they refused to take it for the work they said they wanted to do.

As a result, August (the month we had to film in due to losing our location in September) has come and and gone and the pilot has not gone in front of the cameras.

This makes my blood boil. Not just because I wanted to get this thing made and we only had a limited window, but because you folks had been contributing towards putting the thing together in the first place with your Patreon pledges. None of that money has been spent, by the way, so we have the freedom to try again.

The plan is to try and find a new location and to try and find new equipment and try again by the end of the year, but I hope you understand that the principal of the thing infuriates me.

Frustrating times, but hopefully we can put this project back together.
