And that's a wrap on what I'm calling "Block 1" of filming.
After a two-day shoot we got everything filmed in one key location (the bedroom) at the key time of the day (night time). While this may not seem like much, it was the setting that had the most complex lighting, the most action and the most set-ups and shots. We ran-over by an hour, but we got everything done and the hardest part of the shoot is over.
Unless we decide to do pick-up shots (we'll be combing over the footage and putting together rough-cuts of the scenes to make sure) then the next time the crew assembles (early October) we'll be doing more conversation-heavy scenes and ones that require much simpler lighting set-ups. We've roughly filmed about 40% of the film in 2 days and doing the remaining less-complex 60% in another 2 seems feasible.
I'm only showing 1 frame today because...well, the rest of the shots won't look particularly good out of context and before we've started colour-grading. The stuff that we filmed today will really come alive in the edit.
But despite the long hours, the intense heat in the room (we had two lights for our set-up which gave off a lot of heat) and our leading man getting kicked in the testicles twice by our leading lady by accident (really) we got everything done that I wanted to today and even picked up the slack we had from yesterday.
Re-writes are going to be taking place between now and October for the dialogue scenes in order to condense the runtime slightly. So that'll be fun (?).
But thanks to your support and pledges, this project would not be possible to a big thanks to all of you folks reading this and I'll hopefully have an update for you sooner rather than later!
