Chapter 15



Title: The New Chaser is….

After the ritual only four days later I was approached by Flitwick during dinner. He just came to me while I was manipulating some kids. 


He just said. "Gilderoy, tomorrow will be your match with the current Ravenclaw Chaser William. Show up at the Quidditch pitch after classes and we will have the competition. Me and Madame Hooch will be the judges."


When I heard that I smiled towards Flitwick. "Thank you professor. I will make sure to be at 100% tomorrow."



After that, I just went to bed… I wish I had some Felix Felicis (luck potion) for this. It would definitely have better effects than fairy dust… I mean if you snort it, it not only speeds up your perception, but it also allows you to temporarily be able to speak with fairies.

Tomorrow comes by very quickly, and I just get up as usual and after making sure I look charming like always, I step out of my dorm room. Not bothering with my roommate at all.

After I finish my classes for the day, I immediately go towards the quidditch field. Well time to make myself seem perfect in every way.

-General POV-


As Lockhart walks in the stadium, he is fully calm on the outside, there are some students who came to see how the match is going to end. They are mostly from Ravenclaw but surprisingly there were some from the other houses.

 Hooch and Flitwick are the only teachers in here, they are in the referee's booth. There aren't a lot of people, after all this is nothing that big. It's a surprise even this many people showed up.


Lockhart mounts his broom and flies around the field waving at the people on the stands with his signature smile on his face. 

Hooch uses the microphone to say. "Lockhart, stop messing around and land in the middle of the field, I will explain the rules to you."


Gilderoy just smiles at this and goes down. "Sorry professor, just a little excited to be the youngest chaser in the last century."


Hooch just narrows her eyes. "You aren't the chaser yet Gilderoy, you will need to defeat the current chaser first."


Gilderoy scratches the back of his head in embarrassment. "Sorry professor, I just got a little too excited."


She smiles at him when he says that. 'It's quite hard to find such mature children like Lockhart. He can accept his own mistakes easily for an eleven year old. I know that is not something easy for one his age to do.'


"Anyway, your challenger will be here soon, he ran a little late because he has Potions Class. He should be finishing soon. " Says Hooch with amused smile on her face as she sees that Lockhart is bumed out by this.

But that doesn't last long as he looks at his teacher and asks again. "Sooo… can I warm up at least. While I wait for him to arrive."


She nods at this. Gilderoy rejoices at this. "Yes!"


He then mounts his broom again, he is wearing his Hogwarts uniform, but he still looked dashing to the prepubescent girls that were looking at him.

Hooch's hawk like eyes just follow Gilderoy as he flies along the stadium. Greeting some of his friends and even Lily showed up here. "Hey Gil, good luck."


When Gilderoy sees this he stops and goes towards Lily. "Yo! Lily, look at how cool this is."

Gilderoy does some summer assaults. 

'He is a good flier.' Thinks Hooch, as she looks at the flying stunts Gilderoy makes. She can hardly believe that someone like that has only one month of experience flying in a broom. He seems more like he has a decade of flying experience.

After around ten minutes Gilderoy's opponent arrives. He is in his quidditch uniform, as he walks forward with his broom.

Gilderoy flies down towards Hooch and the other guy. He lands in front of them and when he sees his opponent for the seat of ravenclaw chaser, he then introduces himself. "Hello there, I am Gilderoy Lockhart, first year Hogwarts student."


The other student just snorts in annoyance. "Let's get this over with."


Lockhart still has a smile on his face, he didn't even flinch at the insulting tone and answered with a simple. "Sure."


Hooch looks at both of them, she pulls out a ball that is twelve inches in diameter. It is a red, leather-covered ball. Her hawk like eyes looking at both of the boys in front of her. "Listen here you two, these are the rules, I will throw this ball upwards and each of you have one side of the field. Every time one of you scores, the ball comes to me and I throw it again, immediately with no rest."


Both nod at this. 

Hooch nods at them both. "3...2...1… GO!"


She used a spell to throw the ball high up, but before the other guy's broom even leaves the ground.


*fwosh*


"10 points to Gilderoy."


Everyone is shocked at this, Gilderoy has a amile on his face when he sees the amazed looks of everyone else.

-Gilderoy Lockhart (MC) POV-


I could feel it, the sense of equilibrium and as time moved in slow motion. Even when I was talking, my brain processed information so fast that I could think of the perfect answer. If it wasn't described as possibly getting addictive after overuse, this would definitely be a useful substance.

I go back down again, I can see that even Madame Hooch was surprised by me. My opponent had no time to even move at all.

Anyway the Madame Hooch summons the ball again and announces.


"Begin!"


I can see that my opponent wants to act again, but before he can I cast a silent and wandles Confundus Charm towards him and his broom. 


*fwosh*


I can feel the air brushing through my skin as I grab the ball and immediately throw it towards my opponent's hoops. With my concentration and a slight wandless Wingardium Leviosa to correct my balls direction and it hits.


"10 Points to Lockhart." Announces someone who I assume to be a student.



….


Twenty minutes later, and I cast my final hoop. 

"Another 10 Points to Lockhart, his opponent this time has been able to only slightly float off the ground." Says the announcer with a slight amusement on his tone. 

Madam Hooch finally decides to end this embarrassing circus as she says. "Ok, this is over now, Lockhart will be the Ravenclaw's next chaser."



The announcer takes this chance to also add up by saying. "The results are 360 Points to Lockhart and… zero points to Fin."


My opponent, whose name I just learned storms off the quidditch field in a hurry. He is totally ashamed of how I humiliated him so throughly. An absolute victory for me. 

I just look at my opponent's back as he shamefully runs away. Even though he was a worse flier than I expected him to be, I only won this decisively because of one reason. All that I did today, even if everyone knew it, it isn't against the rules.

Before I even started the match against this guy, I learned the quidditch rules like a pro… so I can break them like an artist.

The people get up and clap for me. I just bow down towards them. "Thank you ladies and gentlemen, for attending my training."



….


Two weeks later and there is another Slug Club meeting being held. So here I am, in my brand new looking suit, that is actually my previous suit but I just transfigured it to look like a black suit with a blue tie. I look quite good if I must say so myself.


….


And so I walk into the dungeons, I take countless shortcuts and arrive at the Slug Club room and open it. 

Immediately I can hear different conversations going on around. Immediately everyone looks at me. I see that professor Slughorn who was seemingly conversing with another student, he stopped and came towards me. "Ah! Gil here you are, exactly on time."


Obviously old man, I am always on time. I have to be very punctual about these things. 

"I heard of your amazing achievements today in quidditch. Not only an amazing student but also a prodigy at flying. Your future is truly bright."


I smirk at that. "Well, hearing you say that professor inspires me to aim higher and higher."


"Well teachers must always bring their best in students. Hahahaha." Laugh Slughorn, but as his laughter dies off he asks once more. "By the way Gil, what are you planning to do once you leave Hogwarts?"


Immediately I notice that this caught the ear of quite some people in here. It seems like a loy of people are interested in my life. Well then…
