IN GOTHAM WITH MOB BOSS SYSTEM

Chapter 5

Title: Becoming a 'Genius'...

….

After my rebirth in this world, around one week passes, and here I am. Outside of my newly renovated apartment building. I painted the outside in a very light red, I fixed some of the cracked windows and refurbished the whole thing. The building is seven stories high with forty-two apartments. Meaning six apartments for every floor. I myself live on the 3rd floor, I am planning to use the ground floor to open some type of cafe and some shops, but that is for later on. Every apartment has two bedrooms, one living room, and a kitchen conjoined and one bathroom. It also is in a good place, close to Robinson Park and Gotham University… kinda close to Arkham Asylum, but that place hasn't become the madhouse that it will be in the future. Gotham currently is full of corruption and generally a sh*tty place, but no dangerous homicidal villain is around here yet.

So a generally good place to live and the most serious problem currently is the gang activity, which is none in the area where my apartment building is.

Anyway, the whole renovation cost me around 100,000$... this was also due to me using different services for every different thing that I needed. In over to leave a confusing paper trail in companies who are mostly failing and soon will be out of business.

The paper trail should disappear in a week or so. I am mostly being cautious. But anyway I turned my 100,000 dollar investment into around 2,000,000 dollars net worth of the building at a minimum. I thankfully have all of the legal documents for the building in my name now.

I take a deep breath of the cold morning air. This is nice, really nice, I can feel the money coming towards me.

Ding!

Suddenly a notification rings inside my head and a see-through screen appears in front of me.

[Achievement Quest Completed]

I concentrate on it and it opens up.

[Your first million]
[You have a net worth of 1,000,000$]

[You gain 5000 Exp]

I just look at the screen in front of me with dull eyes.

Can't this system just go away, it's kinda annoying me really and ruining the moment. I immediately open my interface and put all of my Exp into Strength Enhancement. Raising it to level seven.

I see my goons come down with an elevator that I had installed. I call them over. "Hey, guys!"

They look at me and I just take out some money and wave it towards them. "Go and get me some advertisements on newspapers and fliers, also spread those fliers, everyone. We are renting out 41 of our apartments. For 500$  a month, the best fu*king deal you will find anywhere in Gotham."

They nod and take the couple thousands of dollars that I have in my hand. Three of them go away to do the job while I call over the other two.

And I take them to a makeshift office on the ground floor. I give them two phones and say. "If anyone calls just answer that the price is nonnegotiable and that there are only two units left and they will probably be filled soon. Make them think that it's urgent, even if it's not."

They nod at me. "Yes, Boss."

….

Later I went back to my apartment, where it is on the third floor of my building. I go to my room where I sleep. My goons sleep in the other room on five separate beds. Well, they are controlled by the system and in my eyes not human. So they should be glad I don't have them sleep on the floor or kill them.

Anyway, as I enter my bedroom, inside there is a table and many different books around. From economics, medicine, engineering, computers, etc. There were also many tests of the previous years that were taken by Gotham University students for each of their respective fields.

I close the windows, turn on the lights, get some fold to keep nearby, some computer parts all around the ground and an electric clock on the desk as… I entered the speed force. Time around me immediately seemed to come to a halt. The electronic clock which counts down seconds and even milliseconds doesn't move at all.

I know that the difference between a genius and a normal person is the time that it takes someone to learn something. A genius can learn something that takes someone years in a single week or less.

That is where the speed force comes in… I have as much time as I need. I am not even sure how much time I have available in a minute. My body doesn't even age during the time I am in the speed force so it doesn't matter how much I stay in it. When I feel tired I will stop.

But first, I must study. I will push myself beyond my limits and make myself a 'genius'. But I will spend years catching up to even the 'normal' geniuses of this world.

….

I do not know how much time passes as I look at the computer parts around me. I currently have a book midair not affected by the speed force and I am assembling a computer. I have been studying whatever catches my fancy and with the huge amount of books around me. I would like to think that I am pretty good at some of the stuff I am doing.

I learned things that I didn't have any idea about when I got bored I rested when I felt like it, I slept and rested. I have so much time that I even studied some hand to hand combat. Though I am very unlikely to use it. After all, I don't plan to go around playing with gods in human form or fighting them, especially in close-quarter combat. I mean even the sh*tty system doesn't help me at all with this and I know it. Anyway, the clock has moved one millisecond, I am not sure how much time has passed for me, but I do know that whatever I learned here I did so at a speed that no genius can ever match up. I even have some ideas on how to create some basic stuff, like better computers and programs.

….

So after putting together a computer for the tenth time, I decided to get out of if the speed force and enter the 'real world' again.

As soon as I did so…

Countless notifications appear in front of me. I dismiss them all and open my status page and go down to the skills that I have.

Hmm… I know that the system also records the skills that I learn by myself. Five is about as good as an average person who does that job professionally. Anyway, now I am the hot new genius in Gotham City. Time to start making my own millions now…

A smile appears on my face.

Time to start pulling out the big guns. By the time Batman appears, I will be one of the 'lights' of Gotham. I don't care what the system says or does. I will follow my own road, I will use the system but never let it guide my actions in any way.

….

AUTHOR NOTE:
We see that the MC will follow his own road and not become some mob boss as the system wants him to be. He knows that if he does that three is no good ending for him.

P.S: The MC will not be able to come up with how to make something like the serum that gives Poison Ivy the ability to control plants, no matter how much time he has. But if he had a dose of it in his disposal… he should be able to copy some of its properties. But he can come up with some simple solutions like the Venom Steroid and such, he is no genius but as he said... he has a lot of time in his disposal.😁👍
