Chapter 23




Title: The Player...




….

As I approach the girl, I go inside my head where my memories are organized. In there I chose the file with the Amelia Bones name… hmmm… it seems like we are actually in the same year. I didn’t really notice her till now. Well, I don’t pay any attention to the people in my classroom, college taught me one thing in my past life, I just shouldn’t waste time on people who will most likely be nobodies in the future. 


Still, though, this one will be somebody, so a relationship with her will definitely be beneficial. Hmmm… let’s see what I know about her from the books. Oh, she was actually killed by Voldemort and… wait… she could actually duel Voldemort for a little while before she died. That is actually pretty good, I mean Voldemort is a strong wizard generally, and even though he mostly uses Dark Spells and it doesn't make him as versatile as Dumbledore. It still puts him at Dumbledore’s level. 


In the end, after I analyze everything about her, I just get close to her and when she looks at me she blushes a little at my smile, but in the end, I just ask her. “Hey, can I hide here, some crazy Quidditch fans are chasing me.”


She just nods meekly, welp this isn’t the Amelia Bones that I know about so that must mean that she hasn’t gotten out of her shell yet. I just cast a disillusionment charm on myself, to make myself invisible… gotta have to keep the hiding act after all. Though invisible I sit down next to her and she can feel me lean on her slightly as I decide to ask. “What book are you reading?”

She looks surprised at my interests and I read her surface thoughts too, to get a better guide on her personality. ‘Uhhh… what do I say… if he knows that I am reading a book about goblins then he will definitely think that I am a boring and dull girl.’


As soon as I hear her think that, I think back on the book that I have read and I bring up all of the goblin books. I have been reading magic books for a decade now and since mom couldn’t get me any Dark Magic books, I started reading books about different creatures like werewolves, acromantula, centaur, and many other books. 


I pull up the cover of the book and look at the title.

‘Oh no… he will definitely think that I am weird now… hope he at least doesn't make fun of me. When I read the title, it is: “Little People, Big Plans.”


I immediately recognize the book and bring the necessary memories that I need in the front of my mind. “Oh! So you are reading Little People, Big plans… I am an avid reader of it too.” 

As I say that I ‘hear’ a bunch of her thoughts at once. ‘What!? How?! He reads this stuff too?!?!?!’

I can hear her confusion, shock, and even happiness in her thoughts, I of course just act normally and start talking to her about the book. “It truly talks about the sad life of a goblin from the goblin’s perspective and how the goblins face so much discrimination. Also the part of how it humanist goblins and put us on their perspective and how the Goblin Rebellions happen for a reason, that we, the wizardkind  aren’t willing to learn about the culture of the goblin’s and we instead try to suppress it calling them savages and all that...”

-General POV-


Amelia couldn’t believe her ears about what she was hearing. The perfect and handsome Lockhart actually had things in common in her. She… no actually every student within Lockhart’s year is too intimidated to approach him and he seemed too out of reach to them. He even had a kind of fan club and this was only his first year. In comparison, any student within the first year feels indicate when he/she compares to him. Not even the 7th Years can stand on the same pedestal as Lockhart. Everything he does is perfect and even the way he walks and acts is elegant.



So she can’t help herself and be a little excited knowing that the guy that even some of the 2nd Year girls talk about actually has the same interests as her. But in the end, as she hears him talk in detail about the Goblin Rebellions and the details about and even the little unknown facts, she can tell that he must have read the books countless times. 


“...and I think that some of the wizarding laws are ancient anyway so they should be taken off. But of course, I would like to have a working relationship with the goblins and maybe they could even be our bridge to the muggle world. Maybe their love for money and a wizard’s love for wealth, then maybe by then we can work something out…” Lockheart then stops and looks at Amelia and he scratches the back of his head in nervousness. “Sorry about that, I sometimes get too excited when talking about some of the things that I like. Also sorry for spoiling the book for you.”


He had an apologetic look on his face as he said that to Amelia who looks at Lockhart as if she has already found her destined one. ‘Mom always said that when I find the one I will know it… is this it… is this the sign…’







In the end, she gets her courage to ‘look’ at where Lockhart’s face should be because he is actually invisible and she can’t see him at all. “No… I actually love you… I -I mean I love the books you talked about and such things.”


Lockhart laughs and says. “Oh, I am glad about that. Sometimes I get too worried about talking about stuff like this because they might think that I spend so much time studying such things as law…”

Lockhart skillfully dodges Amelia’s accidental confession. It is way too early to address something like it.  


“No need to worry about it, what with me, I also like law and would like to work like an auror or something like that for the ministry.” Explain Amelia, hopeful that she doesn't push him or something like that. She has finally found someone who has the same interests as her so she is definitely planning to at least keep meeting someone like Lockhart.


“Oh, that is nice.” Says Lockhart, as finally his disillusionment charm runs out and she can see his real appearance, she also notices that he seems to have a complicated look on his face and he then continues. “At least you know what you wanna be…”


As Amelia sees this she can’t help herself but ask. “Why? What do you wanna be Gil…”


Lockhart shrugs his shoulder. Amelia is shocked that he doesn’t know what he wants to be. Lockhart is good at everything he does, he could be a Quidditch player and he would go down in history as the best player or something like that.

AUTHOR NOTE:
As we can see, the MC is manipulating Amelia. He plays with her thoughts and we can see from a third perspective he seems like he genuinely means what he says. He is a narcissist too… so …. yeah...
