Chapter 29




Title: Mending a Relationship….

-Amelia POV-


As I walk along the hallways of my fellow Hufflepuff, I know that there won't be a need to hold my guard up against these people. I can trust them, Hufflepuff is the house of friendship. We do not need people from other houses.


I walk along and don't talk too much. Though I do hear some of my friends say.


"Did you see Gilderoy?"

"Yeah. He seems even more handsome than last year."


"I heard that he released a book. I read it, and my dad who is an Auror was amazed by the charms written in it and how it explains their versatility."

"Ahhhh… I wanna kiss him on the lips."


"Hey! Don't say that so loudly, people might overhear us."

"Also I saw some 1st year Ravenclaw girls looking at him. They seem to have a crush on Lockhart."

"Well honey, everyone has a crush on him." 



As they keep mentioning him so much. I can't help it as my face twitches a little every now and then. I must control myself to be able to not allow things to go out of control.


….
Finally, it's over and my roommates say that they have to go and get something as they forgot. They told me that they will be right back, I can go first in my dorm room and they will be back before I know it.



I just walk at my dorm room door and sigh a little. I just know that this year will be bad for me.


….
As I enter the room I immediately notice someone very familiar sitting on the chair in which I usually sit to do homework.

He looks at me and smiles. "Wow, this is uncomfortable. I had to use some softening charms on it."


"Gilderoy!" I call him out with venom in my voice. Since no one is around I don't need to hide my emotions anymore. I care for him enough to not ruin his reputation because we have used to be friends. 



"Hm?" He looks at me confused. As if he didn't just mind read me so casually on the carriage. 


I can't help it as I am a little scared of him right now. Whenever I look at his eyes I feel a sense of… deja vu? No more like a sense of coldness coming from them.

"You know your friends are nice. I only had to tell them once and they immediately decided to leave us alone." Says Lockhart and I don't know what he is implying here by saying that. 
"Sometimes friends aren't as they seem."


Where is he going with this? I don't know. But I am definitely on guard now. He is saying creepy some sh*t…


I see that his eyes seem disappointed sometimes. As soon as he turns his back to me I pull out my wand and immediately attack him, he is acting way too creepy and I don't feel safe. I don't want to end up like my uncle...


I raise my wand and shout. "Stu-"


Fwosh!


I am hit by a red spell before I could even finish speaking. I am frozen in place and can't move at all. I look at Gilderoy and see that he has his wand pointed at me from over his shoulder. He didn't even turn around to look at me.


"Disappointing." Confessed Gilderoy as he turns to look at me with a pitying look on his face. I can feel a chill run down my spine at the situation. Never in my life have I felt so terrified. It's like a chill running down my spine, especially with the casual way Gilderoy is currently acting. Like he had done this a hundred times before. 



"I still do not know why you are mad at me. I came here to sort this out but you attack me. Why is that?" Asks Lockhart with an even tone to his voice.


I think of different reasons for many things. But in the end, I just answered him. "Because I don't even know who you are anymore."


I see Gilderoy raise a questioning eyebrow at this. "Of course, we have both changed. After all, change is inevitable as we grow up, we will change. But in the end, we will still be friends if that's what you are worried about."


"A friend doesn't read another friend's mind." I tell him, it was more out of frustration by now. I see that Gilderoy's smile slips off his face and he frowns.


"I see now… it all makes sense… you seem to have noticed that I read your mind during our first year before the History of Magic exam." Admits Lockhart. "I kind of overused the ability in my first year since I was born a natural Legilimen… but after using it on you at that last time… I… I always wanted to apologize about it. But I was afraid of what you would think about it. But ever since then, I have never used Legilimency on anyone. I will make an unbreakable vow and prove my words if you want."


As he says that I am shocked, I can see that his face is full of shame and guilt. So he can use Legilimency naturally? But also he didn't use it on me this year at all? But why would he admit that he is a natural Legilimen and then lie that he didn't read my memory this year? 


That is when it hits me like a lightning bolt. There were two other people in the carriage! Lily Evans and Alice?! One of them used Legilimency on me, thinking that I wouldn't notice. But I did and since Lockhart was in front of me I assumed that it was him. 


Lily is most likely to be the Legilimency user as she was in front of me and had a clear look at my eyes. But at the same time, Alice can't dismiss it. I look at Gil and in the end, I can only sigh out and concede to him. "I see… then I trust you, Gil, sorry for thinking that it was you and you even came out with a big secret for yourself. I know that being known as a natural Legilimen would make people not want to associate with you so I won't be spreading any rumors and tell a soul of this discussion."

Lockhart sighs in relief at this. "I am grateful to you for trusting me, Amelia."

He waves his wand and another spell hits me. I see that I am no longer constricted, so that must have been a counter charm.


"I will trust you too about this too Amelia. But first I will need to teach you Occulumency before I tell you my secrets." Adds Gil, his face is back to the friendly old Gilderoy. He also must have some deep secrets if he wants me to learn Occulumency so no one can read them out of my head.

"I already know the basics Occulumency." I admit to him, and I see his face light in joy as I say that. I guess in the end I was really worried about nothing. I knew that Gil wasn't someone who would go around reading memories of people without a care for their privacy.


…..
After a little bit more, Lockhart walks out of the room and I am left to my own thoughts. 

I wonder what his secrets are?

-General POV-


While Amelia was thinking that, as soon as Gilderoy walks outside of Amelia's room. A dark smile appears on his face. 'That was harder than expected.'

There is more than it seems to this scene. I gave a couple of hints about it, even though the hints were in Amelia's POV and she didn't notice it either. So what do you think the MC did?😏


P.S: College has started so my update schedule is a little more erratic so I will update at more random hours. But I will still update three times a day.👍
