Harry Potter: Reborn as Lockhart

Chapter 35

Title: Killing an Undead...

….
I look at the professor as he goes through many different incantations and how one can do many different versions of Expelliarmus, showing us different motions and such.

"Now remember students, one must always be 100% willing in this charm. You must feel the spell in a way, you must want to hit your opponent so hard he will spiral into the wall." Explains Professor Stoker, calmly as he goes through the wand movements and incantation.

But I see that he is also trying to explain to us the power one's will has on magic. The spell itself is used to knock the wand out of someone's hand, but if someone has a more… complicated mind process on the person. Then he will also knock him back while disarming him.

I am not exactly learning anything new here, so I just act like I am paying attention when in reality I am not.

"Lockhart, why don't you come and do a demonstration for us." Says Professor Stoker suddenly, pulling me out of my thoughts. I look at him and see that he still has his friendly smile on his face.

I kind of hate it that I can't read what the man is thinking. But that doesn't matter as I put a smile on my face and nod at the professor.

"Yes, professor," I answer him, getting up from my desk and standing in front of the wooden doll. Professor Stoker waves his wand and I can see the doll move in a way that wasn't so rigid.

Immediately the doll charges me, its speed is quite fast and it would be in front of me in seconds. Dozens of spells that I can use to stop it appear on my head, but I dismiss all of them. I must use the disarming charm in this one.

I wave my wand and point it at the doll that is now almost one arm's length away from me.

"EX-PELLIARMUS!!!" I shout out the name of the spell and a wave of white flies from my wand, hitting the doll and smashing it into the wall.

Baaam!

The doll even cracks a little, but I extend my hand and catch the fake wand that flew out of the doll's hand. This should show that I am graceful enough in the use of the spell, and am not all just raw power.

I give the professor a side glance to see his reaction and see just a smile on his face.

"Truly amazing Mister Lockhart, 50 points to Ravenclaw. I have not seen many wizards do a better disarming charm than that one." Says Professor Stoker, and I smile at that. Damn, I don't know if he is really genuine with me or just a good actor. Hopefully not the latter, because I don't like people who are better actors than me.

As I sit back in my seat, I see some Ravenclaw guy from my year put his hand on my shoulder and congratulate me. "That was amazing Lockhart."

Well, I don't need you random student number four to tell me that. But I keep a smile on my face and not at him, no need to be rude at him. After all, I learned my lesson when I almost lost my arm. Too many enemies are not good for anyone. Even losers like him, it's best not to make enemies out of them.

….
This class ended too, my thoughts were all on professor Stoker, what is wrong with him? Was he the secret death eater who paid the Slytherin students to try and kill me? I don't know… this is an unknown situation.

I don't like mysteries like this at all, I will need to start being more active from now on at least.

But I must do so behind the scenes, I have caused enough trouble for this year, the rest must be quiet. Obviously someone will have to take the blame for the disappearance of those two kids and it definitely won't be me… but I know who will take the blame though.

….
-General POV-

So like that, the 2nd Hogwarts year passes for Lockhart, he kept his head down most of the time now. He already had all the fame that he could get from Hogwarts, every student knew of him.

He won the Quidditch matches quickly like always, and it was another guaranteed House Cup for the Ravenclaw's due to him.

….
But as the end of the year approaches, Dumbledore is having another problem in his office. Because as he sits down, he sees two Aurors come in through the fireplace.

They are both men who are wearing well-knitted suits. They stand in front of Dumbledore's desk and look at him.

The old man can only sigh at this. "What did you find?"

"We found the bodies." Says one of the men, Dumbledore instantly seems to age another decade as he hears this.

"Mind magic was used on them." Says the other Auror. "The magic was at such a high level that it is unlikely that it was a student of any year. It is one of the faculty members."

"I see." Says Dumbledore, not knowing how to answer this problem. "Any other clues?"

"Yes, the students were most likely experimented on with dark magic, as they had been hit with countless curses." Says the Auror to the right.

"Their bodies are not in great shape either." Says the one to the left. "The killer made sure to hide the bodies perfectly. He has knowledge on killing… extensive knowledge. The bodies were dismembered and if it wasn't for the blood magic from their houses, we wouldn't have been able to even identify if they were even human remains."

"I see…" Says Dumbledore calmly, he can see where they are going with this.

"Bram Stoker, a man who has in the past killed several people when he used to be a human." Says the agent to the right. "Though he claimed his innocence, no one believed him."

"Our most likely suspect is Bram Stoker, as the man has extensive knowledge in dark arts, mind magic…" Says the Auror to the left, looking at his partner, asking if he should say anymore. All that he gets in return is a nod. "Also he is the most likely suspect… is because he is… a vampire."

Dumbledore winces at this slightly, he knows how bad this will make him look. Hiring a famous vampire-like Stoker isn't smart… the man was known by another name hundreds of years ago. Though by now he has left behind his past, he is still incriminated for his sins during his life.

"What will happen to him?" Questions Dumbledore, wondering what will happen to his old friend.

"Bram Stoker… no… Dracula will be sentenced to death." Says the agent to the right, his eyes resolute in this. The ministry has already decided this, and even though Dumbledore is unconvinced that Stoker did the killing, he can't protect the man, as he doesn't have the power, and it will cost him his position at Hogwarts.

If he lost that position, there is nothing from stopping some Pureblood controlled by Voldemort to come and take over the school (officially). So Dumbledore had a hard decision in front of him, save an old friend of his or the Wizarding World of Britain… in the end, he knew his decision.

"You can do your duties." Says Dumbledore, the Aurors nod at that and walk away, going to confront the vampire, Dracula, who is believed to be the very first vampire.
