….
The shops and the buildings around, while still looking medieval-like in Diagon Alley, they also have a more organized feeling with a more modern plating. Making it seem more like a medieval building built during modern times.
But that didn't stop Gilderoy as he looked around with childish glee in his eyes. He couldn't help it as to him, this is a whole new magical world opened up. Anything that has to do with magic will have his interests, even what normal people would consider useless.
People just gave him a single glance once they saw him and didn't pay any more attention to him. After all, he was in the body of a child… and he will act like one. To him, a thirteen-year-old is still a child, and so is in everyone's eyes, so he will use it to his advantage.
He searches through many different shops, and that is when he smells a… strange scent. His mind blanks out for a split second, a strange tingle runs down his body, and the hair behind his neck stands up. Gilderoy's eyes widen in shock as he regains his bearings immediately and looks towards the source of the 'smell'.
It is a silver-haired woman, she has gray eyes and a doll-like face with no imperfections on it. It seemed like a real-life photoshopped woman.
But what amazed him wasn't her beauty, it was the 'aura' that she was releasing. Compared to the other wizards around, Gilderoy is acting truly good, as some of them are groveling in the ground.
'A Veela.' Concludes Gilderoy immediately understanding what the female was. He never expected that the charm of a veela was so strong. He thought that he would be able to handle it naturally, but he still feels its effects. It feels like he hasn't had a woman in a thousand years while at the same time having a boner. So all his lust is directed at the woman.
But even with all those feelings in him, and every part of his body telling him to go and ravage that woman. Gilderoy is extremely calm in this. After all, humans have long since been able to control their base instincts. Someone of his caliber, who can study for hours on end, obviously has the necessary will power.
Still, Gilderoy smiles as he looks at the veela, his gaze turns scheming and his smile turns devious. Countless plans form on his head until only one is left. He came here to explore the French Wizarding World and learn new things about magic… so he will do just that...
Veela's are very rare creatures that have magical properties and can even turn into harpy-like creatures once they get angry. A truly ferocious race of creatures.
Bit Lockhart was more curious than afraid, after all, a veela will be dangerous within her enraged form… but wizards have a stick of death in their hands. One accurate cutting curse and her enraged head would fly.
...
So Gilderoy decides to stealthily follow the veela woman. He used different charms on himself, during his time in Hogwarts and sneaking around. He has learned many different charms for stealth, so he used them on himself. First, he took out a broom as he didn't want to leave tracks on the ground, and then he starts using the different charms, from silencing, anti-friction, no-air-resistance charm so the air doesn't make a sound when he flies around, invisibility charm, silencing charm, no-smell charm… and every other charm that he could think of.
He couldn't help but be a little annoyed when he thought that even with all of these charms, Dumbledore would sometimes be able to tell where he was. The old man is truly something else, he is at a different level in magic. His knowledge is astounding, and Gilderoy hopes to one day (hopefully soon) be able to catch up to the old man's knowledge… and surpass it.
He followed the woman, even as she took a brook and flew away. He followed the veela even out of the Place Cachée, and they flew off till she arrived at a forest. Gilderoy observes her, keeping his distance and temporarily turning them into hawk eyes. This allows him to see the silver-haired woman who just walks in front of a tree and whispers something.
Immediately, Lockhart is shocked because… like a curtain was lifted. A part of the forest changes and it transforms into a medieval-looking village with naked silver-haired women running around. This surprises Gilderoy to no end, especially as he feels like his heart is about to burst out of his chest once he feels the charm of Aura almost overwhelming his mind.
He looks at the woman and winces slightly. They are all veela… that is the conclusion that he came to. And seeing them walking naked amongst the village made him almost lose his mind to lust. Never has he felt like this… this lustful… he wants to go down there and do unimaginable things to those women. He feels like he is a whole different person from this, the overwhelming charm is intoxicating. Almost like a thirsty man in a desert who just found an oasis of cold water. He would just have to walk forward and his deepest pains would be satisfied.
Lockhart's face flushes at this, so he takes out his wand and points it at his hand. "Cruciatus."
Immediately he almost falls off his broom as the bain ravages through his body. His magic is like a precise knife as it runs through his nerves without damaging any of them.
*huff* *huff* After a couple of seconds he is breathing heavily. His mind is no longer affected by the charm, he looks at the veela and shakes his head. "This… isn't a place I should go to yet."
He found something beyond him, even at this distance, he was affected by the veela's charms. He doesn't know if he can control himself in front of hundreds of veela, especially if they concentrate their charm aura on him. That would undoubtedly break him… after all, Lockhart still has a preference for females. Even if his lust seems inconsequential to him who would rather learn some new magic than chase after superficial things like lust.
…
In the end, he just turns back and flies away. Promising himself to one day return and have the ability to stand in front of those women and not even blink once.
He cringes as he flies clenching his hand in a fist. He hates it… being unable to have control over his body. Never did he think that something that a charm ability would work on him… he is a little disappointed in himself. Because without his Occulumency Shields, he would have fallen for the charms like any other man.
He hated this, admitting that at the end of the day he is just a normal man and that the only difference between him and your everyday wizard is the amount of effort he puts in. He wasn't born with a photographic memory, neither was he a natural at magic like Voldemort… neither was he a born genius like Dumbledore. He didn't even have the time he needed to train himself to fight geniuses like Voldemort, and they already have around half a century ahead of him.
How does a normal man beat a genius who has even had more time than you to grow?
Lockhart's answer is very simple… work harder and smarter than Voldemort and Dumbledore ever could. Work so hard that magic must be the thing he will think about even while in the toilet. Even while sleeping he must dream about magic and new spells.
That is his resolve… the resolve of a man who doesn't like to be in 2nd place...
