Chapter 56



Title: Monster...



…
I can't help but be calm as Karla points behind me. I have gotten used to this now, people appearing behind me like it is nothing.


I turn around and see a woman with red skin, black hair, and bright red eyes with no pupil. A red-tail is also apparent as it sways behind her. In this darkness, I could see perfectly, even the playful smile on her face.


"Oh, you are a human?" Asks the creature, surprised. "I haven't seen one of you in hundreds of years."


Damn, just how sh*t is this situation. Do I already have to try and escape this place? I just arrived, but I have to run away. No… I should stay a little longer, I must try and have my metamorphosis here. I need to raise my strength some more.


"Who are you?" I ask her, curious to even learn her name. Well, I am assuming she is female due to her body structure, but one can never know with creatures like these.


"Oh, my name is Bambina. Descendants of one of the Heavenly Kings. Cool right?" She seems proud of that, but I didn't understand what she meant by Heavenly King, probably some strong creature from the Dark Continent. 


Damn, I have no idea about any of the creatures here. But if one can be considered strong in the Dark Continent, then that pretty much means unkillable for my level. *sigh* This is truly disparaging. 


The monster woman seems to notice my despair and just casually pats me on the shoulder. "Don't worry, I will kill you painlessly, so you won't get some painful death."


This sucks, even survival is hard in this place. It seems like I was just a frog in a well, in the Human Continents… I thought I was powerful. Honestly, just Netero could defeat me back there, he was the only man I had doubts about defeating. The others were all relatively easy opponents. 


Since coming to the Dark Continent, it hasn't even been an hour and I am already more open-minded at how far one's power can go. 


I look at the monster woman and sigh. "Will you let me live?"


She seems to contemplate this. "Well, no, not really. It was unlucky of you to meet me. I was just chasing after the sphere head. I usually wouldn't be roaming around the boring shores."


Ah, I see. So it was just my misfortune for meeting her here. 


"Can we fight outside of here faringly then?" I ask once more, calmly. Trying to grasp at any chance of survival here. Karla is staying calm, knowing that rage right now wouldn't be the right thing to do.


"Nope, because I can see that you are planning something." She says with a sweet smile on her face. Seemingly genuinely amused talking to me like this.



I see, so I have a limited option of choices now. Well, two choices really, and I must choose the one with the highest chance of survival.

I have an Accompany Card in my pocket, I can immediately try to return me and Karla to the Human World. But that will be unlikely as that spell card takes a second to activate, in that second this beast with her hand on my shoulder could kill me dozens of times in a second. Karla could probably survive in this scenario, but there would be no chance for me. I trust and care about Karla… just not enough to sacrifice my life for her. 


Or I could go with the other alternative where I have a high chance of survival… if it can even be called that.


"Heh, what a sh*tty life." I complain loudly trying to buy myself some time.

-General POV-



As soon as Sub complains about his life. He closes his eyes, immediately the red-skinned woman's eyes widen. Bambina, her instincts were screaming at her for some reason, as Sub now generated a dangerous feeling coming out of him.



Dark Nen starts gathering towards him. His aura explodes out, making the ground shake, caving in the sand and Karla jumps off. 


"Yes, I accept it." Says Sub out loudly. "My deepest desire is to defeat the monster behind me."


His Nen starts materializing itself, dark flesh seems to be created out of nowhere. It takes the form of fleshy dark armor around him. He also has a fleshy spear in his hand.





Bambina looks at this nervously, feeling a strange heaviness in her heart.


"*STRENGTH!!*" Yells Sub, his voice loud, causing creatures around them to gather all here.

Fwish!


He disappears and appears behind Bambina, ready to pierce her head from behind. But she senses this and dodges by the slip of a hair and uses her tail to hit Sub in the chest, obliterating half his chest instantly.


But Bambina isn't happy at this, as she was attempting to hit his head. She charges at Sub, at speeds that Karla who had jumped back couldn't even see anymore.


As she gets close to him, her eyes widen as she hears Sub grunt in a voice that seems as if a thousand people are talking at once. "Strength!!"


Immediately the half of his cheast that was obliterated heals instantly. This surprises Bambina. 'He has super regeneration?'


She goes to punch him, her Nen gathering all in her hand. 


BOOOOM!!!


Sub attempted to dodge, but his movements were too predictable. Bambina could see him fighting more like a beast now than a human. So like that, half his head is obliterated and his brain appears on the outside.



He attempts to walk forward, but he drops to his knees. His brain is unable to send signals to the rest of his body as half his brain is now missing.


Bambina immediately goes to decapitate him, but his hand moves like a viper, grabbing into her hand. A terrifying smirk on Sub's face. "Strength~"


Pow!


He punches her in the stomach. Bambina just looks at him coldly. "Is that all you have?"


Fwish!


She cuts off his hand that is clutching onto her and throws it away casually. 


"You think you can beat me by using borrowed power?" Asks Bambina while looking at Sub's eyes who were now red. He only growls at her. "You didn't even have the honor to die as a Human. Tch, coward."

Sub doesn't say anything and just growls at her. "Streng-"


POW!!



She casually slaps him, easily making Sub's head fly off his body. "Annoying."


She then gathers Nen inside her hand and shoots a beam at the head. 


Boom!!


Obliterating Sub's head. His headless body plops on the ground, like a puppet with its strings cut off.




Karla looks at this calmly, a single tear rolls down her cheek. But she doesn't say anything anymore, as she surrounds herself in bandages. She jumps towards Bambina.


Fwish!


Only to have Bambina use her fist to punch a hole straight through Karla. She did this casually, without any difficulty as Karla's body fell to the ground. Her lungs were obliterated, so she couldn't even say anything. 


Bambina yawns. "Wonder what I should hunt tomorrow. These were quite weak. I knew I shouldn't have come here to the lake."


When Bambina walked away, she didn't notice a card fall on the ground. A card with the initials… Angel's Breath… 



Karla, as she is dying, looks at Sub's dead body releasing dark miasma. 

'I… I have so many regrets.' Thinks Karla. Thinking of the journey that she and Sub took to get here. She tries to heal herself, but it is no use. Her ability can't heal an obliterated lung. 'I wonder… what he thought of me. Did he have any feelings towards me?'


Though silly, Karla had one thought in her mind. Wondering what Sub thought of her, she has seen how he is. She isn't blind to his faults. 

"Yo, Karla can't die on me now." Comes Sub's voice. She can swear that she is hearing it, but she sums it up to just her mind hallucinating before her death.

A/N: Nooo! The angry anime power up didn't work.😱… but yes, Bambina is a strong creature, even for the Dark Continent. She one-shot Brion. Also, she could have one-shot the MC too if he didn't have regeneration. The next chapter will explain what happened and all that.
